Debating...fit or s2k..

I love my fit but I think I'd like an s2000 more. Haven't had her for a year yet either. These things get pretty good resale value?

Fitcapo 09-29-2008 12:47 AM

Here comes the jaded seen this thread or one like it a million times post....

Get the s2000 if you want it if not then don't get it. I don't think this really is a question that you should ask online people. Rather you should think this through yourself it is your money your credit not ours..... Personally if it were up to me if you wanted to get a sports car I wouldn't go with the s2000 would rather spend the $20000-$35000 on something much nicer or faster.

As far as the resale value I think 07's used can go for between 12000-14000 if you can find a buyer. Lots of people have tried to sell their fit on the forum but I have yet to see one have luck.

feddup 09-29-2008 12:49 AM

different!!!!

Apples and oranges!!!!!!!!!!!!!
What do YOU want?

trill 09-29-2008 12:52 AM

I have an 08 though lol.

LOZA 09-29-2008 12:53 AM

Jason is letting go of his 08 BBP too cause hes getting an S2K.

kylerwho 09-29-2008 12:57 AM

all i know is that aftermarket parts for the fit are cheaper than an s2000. to hell with an s2000, find a nsx. but in the end to each his own.

trill 09-29-2008 12:58 AM

who? lol in reference to me?

yeah. it all really matters on what you like. personally i would just drop a k20/k24 hybrid with a supercharger to give you crazy speed in a car no one expects to be fast. it would be cheaper than an s2000.

actually no it wouldn't be cheaper. You could by the brand new s2k cheaper and have a faster car with better handling. UNLESS you were doing all the k20 swap work youself. in that case yes it would be cheaper

I've been pricing with some shops lately thats why i know. =D

Firebat666 09-29-2008 02:52 AM

i say go forced induction on the Fit... and a nice suspention set up..... every one knows what a s2k will do... surprise ppl with a killer Fit!

Pepperinyoureye 09-29-2008 05:12 AM

if you drive ALOT dont get the S2000,I put 30k on mine in 11months and the value dropped real bad, hense why I now drive a Fit.

enjoito 09-29-2008 05:26 AM

i drive my friends s2k some times its not a friendly daily driver.. more like a weekend car.. i love my fit more then the s2k but its all up to you tho.

I owned one for about a year, belonged to the northeast S2K club etc. It is truly the most uncomfortable and user unfriendly car I ever owned. The only way to get ANY power is to keep RPM's up ALL THE TIME. If you drop RPM's the car is a total dog. The interior is very sparse and you feel EVERYTHING. Trying to get out of the car is almost impossible. FUN CAR for a day or two but as a primary driver it is probably one of the worst choices one could make. If you have a daily driver and want a "toy" and your 18-25 then it might be for you.

you're debating whether to have steak or a cake? it's not even in the
same genre. keep your Fit unless you have another dd you can use for
your S2K. those cars are fun to drive, but you're kidding yourself if you
think they are pratical for daily use. :wavey:

rawrItsJello 09-29-2008 12:52 PM

lol if youre debating whether to have a fit or s2k?

why not BOTH!? muahahahaha

08fithappy 09-29-2008 01:09 PM

i was there too. I wanted to trade the fit in for a S2000 or a EVO. But u just can't get enough for these fits. And they are great DD. So i am keeping mine and saving for a couple of years to get a S2000, or evo not sure which yet. They were trying to give me 13,000 for the Fit. So if u have time u could just save for a couple of years and than have the fit for a DD and the S2000 for a weekend warrior.

David R 10-01-2008 12:33 AM

Modding a fit in place of an s2k is kinda lame. Not really the same league.

kenchan 10-01-2008 12:08 PM

well some folks aren't rich like you DavidR.

ddess 10-05-2008 12:11 AM

This is funny. I have an S2k and am thinking of picking up a used Fit as a
DD. I love the S2k and they are way different animals. If you want a top down car that corners well its a blast. If you want to race everyone around you, you will lose. Track car, its hard to beat. Many early models can be had for 12-16k with reasonably low mileage.

I guess its all up to you and what you want.

9k_RPM 10-05-2008 02:32 AM

After having an '03 S2000 daily driver for two and a half years now... let me simply put it this way.... I'm sick of it and I'm trading it in for a Fit. :rotfl:

Honestly, as a daily driver it will eventually drive you mad. Stick with the fit. Or hell I'll trade ya. Want a 96k mile S2k?

jeimusu86 10-05-2008 02:51 AM

yea, if ur gonna DD an s2000 ur gonna develop back problems, my friend has to see a chiropractor to straighten out his shoulder and lower back, after trading up for a bmw 335i he told me he missed the handling of a RWD car, but didnt miss seing his chiropractor

I can vouch for that... always have to crack my back before I go to sleep. :rotfl:

Um. Last time i checked those BMWs are RWD. Thats why i like the 3 series so much. Not so much now adays but the older ones. So that statement confuses me a little. Infact. I know people with 325ci that will stomp on a S2k all day long everyday.

I'm sure he wasn't implying to say a modded S2K being slower than a modded Fit...

IMO...for $30,000, I'd buy a base fit, FI that beesh...wheels/suspension...and probably a JDM body conversion...and be a lot more fun than an S2K.

I can't remember where I read it or heard it from...but there's this quote:
"It is more fun to go quickly in a slow car than it is to go fast in a fast car"
and I couldn't agree more.

But as everyone is saying. To each his own...your money, your credit, your time, and you're the one driving it. So fack the haters.

who is Jay Leno?

dickiez 10-05-2008 01:15 PM

i had to decide from buying a fit or a used s2k

i chose the fit because of the gas prices and the fact that ill have more room to put things in

and to me it was more like

35mpg > 22mpg

i dont think u get what im saying, u clearly didnt understand or comprehend what i had written, i never said the s2000 can beat a 335xi, first of all theyre two different cars, u cant even compare them cuz theyre not even in the same class, wat i was referring to is the AWD of a 335xi, fits more for the luxurious handling feeling, and not the stiff sporty handling feeling of the s2000...and i know what ur gonna say, AWD is better than RWD, blah blah blah, but until u've driven a luxury car u wont know what im talking about

mmm def 10-05-2008 09:15 PM

I just bought an 04 S2k to replace my 335 which my lease is ending. I have driven the S2k everyday for 2 months putting on close to 4k miles, and I got tired of it as a DD. So now it sits in the garage and comes out on weekends or really nice days. It is not a fun DD, especially coming from a car with low end torque. Now I just DD my wife's Honda fit, I am happy with that..

If you DD the S2k and it is your only car, you will probably get tired of it quickly. Awesome fun car, but it's really just a big-boy's Toy.

I'll probably be selling my S2k this summer and grabbing a 135i...miss the power.

bigtoepfer 10-05-2008 11:44 PM

ok i understand what ur saying. But the 335i is a RWD car. not awd. Unless i missed a memo somewhere. And yes it has a 300hp TT straight 6. So no you can't really compare it to a s2k.

kylerwho 10-05-2008 11:51 PM

can you really compare japanese cars with european automobiles?

FITGD3 10-06-2008 01:23 AM

Fit for daily and S2K for weedend! Issue solved: )

FitMF 10-06-2008 04:01 AM

The Fit and S2k are not in the same class. It depends what you want, also expect to pay more on everything from maint,to insurance with the s2k. I know because i have both.

Not really, but we are.

Kazs 10-06-2008 11:48 AM

i'd love to own an s2000 someday but i cant picture myself daily driving it.
I have not driven my mr2 turbo for 3 weeks since we got the 09 fit. Granted its no s2000 but i can relate to the hassle of worring about speedbumps, dips, parking without damaging lower front lip, curbing the wheels, the attention it gets, door dings etc just drove me nuts.
Fit is simple, jump in and go! :vtec:

kenchan 10-06-2008 11:51 AM

^^ i agree. s2k should be pampered as a weekend car, not as a dailydriver.

i mean it looks cheap when you're driving a vert for grocery getting... or even
worse, seeing FR coupes and verts trying to make it in the snow. lol sad view.
just shows how some people are just too poor to enjoy the car the way it
was suppose to be enjoyed.

CorrodesTheFilm 10-06-2008 08:52 PM

Cheap. Fast. Reliable. Pick two.

With the Fit you're getting cheap and reliable.

The S2000: Fast and reliable. (Factor in insurance, premium fuel, lower mpgs, etc. It ain't cheap. :))

I'd get the S2000 as it might be the last gasoline powered sports car you'll ever get a chance to own, what with the way the economy and petroleum reserves are going...

You'll have a chance to drive a "practical" car later. Not that the Fit isn't a great car.
