Cargo Net or Cargo Organizer?

I mainly use my present Cargo Net to hold groceries and a few other odd things. But unlike mine, the 2009 Fit Cargo Net is taller and has a zipper closed top--changing the dimensions of the net.

Anybody have experiences with both the Fit net and organizer? Which one do you like better? Could you list positives and negatives between the two? How do I decide which would serve me best without trying them out?

I'm actually looking for something beyond the cargo net, but I can't find it in Honda's list of accessories. Does anyone know of a security screen that could be used to hide items in the back hatch area of an '09 Sport?

kenchan 10-13-2008 05:29 PM

honestly i hate cargo nets cause they tend to get into the way
than anything else. i'd get the cargo organizers, especially the
ones sold at amazon where you can move it around the trunk.

JDMxGE8 10-13-2008 05:31 PM

I want to try to get the cargo organizer, but I don't even know if they're available to for the GE8.

cheap out

I own the cargo net for the GD3 and think I wasted my money. I looked into the cargo organizer and think it's a "guess what" a waste of money. I hope the 09s have those tie down hooks. If they do then get a variety of bungy cords which can be done for under $10 and get used to using them. I love Honda but the price they ask for accessories can be outrageous even if you use an internet dealer like bernardi or college hills. Sorry for being such a hater!

I use a cardboard box. Free, lightweight and I can swap it out for a larger or smaller one as needed.

Cargo Net or Cargo Organizer?

Hey FitFreakers,

We have an '08 sport, but have looked at the '09 at the dealer. We bought a cargo cover on the internet...not from Honda...but it is a stock Honda item....we paid about $112. It is terrific. And the '09 has great hooks in the back as well.

But we often carry one or two coolers shopping, as we have to go between 25-40 miles to shop. We always have several bungy cords in the back side pocket....they work great. We also travel with our own shopping bags, which are larger and more stable....and can be bungied through their handles.

Anyway, we don't think you need the cargo net, and the organizing can be done by you and some bungies. We use the cargo cover, because where we shop there are lots of prying eyes and sticky fingers. :vtec:

StanMan, Do you have the specific site from which you purchased your cargo cover? I'm confused about it being a stock Honda item, yet you didn't get it from Honda. Thanks...

you have seen the Honda "cargo cover," right?

$118+ shipping at college hills

i have it and find it useful because i always have expensive work equipment back there. it lifts up a bit when you open the hatch (unlike that photo).

Honda cargo cover

Hi Prufrock,

Here is the site where we ordered ours.

2007-2008 Honda Fit Sport Interior Cargo Accessories - Bernardi Honda Parts and Accessories

The price is the same as the one shown by Blackup, but since we did deal with this company, we can recommend them. And it came very quickly.

That webpage shows the 2008 model, but I notice that they do carry the 2009 Fit model as well.

It is Honda stock, and it is coming from a Honda dealer...but at a much better price.:vtec:

Actually, I haven't seen the Honda cargo cover, but I did go on your site. I'm not a big fan of installing this myself. This is what was said had to be done for the '09 Fit. I can't believe that this was not at least an available option on the '09 Sport. My wife has the car now, but I'm guessing that even the Honda version cannot merely be hooked on, correct?

College Hills Honda shipped pretty fast as well. You don't really need to "install" the cover. It pops into the sides of the car and then you will clip two hooks on the inside of the hatch window frame. Put the string loops over those hooks and you can be done with it. It does have snaps that connect to the back of the rear seats, but I haven't installed mine because it doesn't matter. You still cant see back there and if you recline your rear seats, it fits pretty flush.

BlackUp,

I appreciate your insight. Today my Honda parts guy in the Chicago area quoted me a price of $190 for the '09 cargo cover, but he did say he'd match any online Honda-certified seller. Two questions: is that $118 price for the '09 version too? Also, this does not really affect the quick compartability of the Magic Seat configurations, correct? Thanks again...

Honda Fit Accessories - Genuine 2009 Honda Fit Interior Accessories

the above link is for 2009 Fit interior accessories
that will be cool if they will match that so you could avoid shipping.

it doesnt affect the magic seat config unless you install the buttons. in which case, you unsnap the buttons before folding the seats down flat

BlackUp,

I just printed the '09 accessories sheet from your site and will show the online price of the cargo cover to the local Honda parts person. Thanks again...

Tiffanys 10-16-2008 01:51 PM

but I don't even know if they're available to for the GE8.

azncarbos 10-16-2008 02:28 PM

FYI: the cargo organizer is the same as the GD3 and the Honda Pilot......

If you have a feed store (as in hay for horses) near you, you can buy a black rubber tub for just a few dollars. They come in various sizes, and the rubber doesn't slide around. We have one of them in the trunk of my wife's Accord.
