Gotta get my moster truck of a fit into shape on a budget

I'm not going to beat around the bush. I just installed my wheels, don't get me wrong, I love the wheels; however, I think this thing looks like a dodge ram hatchback atm. Would I be ok with just getting some sideskirts and dropping the car about 1.5 inches? Or....are you all going to recommend I get a 3rd job, drop out of school and buy a whole new 4 piece body kit.

Heres the truck...i mean car

I would say do a mild drop since those are 17's (right?). One thing tho is you might have to roll the fender if you drop and they are 17's also might have to work some camber into the mix.

ok. this was my first option. I was going to pick up some progress springs from someone on the forums (wasnt sure on the camber yet...) and roll the fenders (because they already rub over big bumps, and yea 17's good call).

My main question would be, if by putting this money into the lowering of the car. Will it still look good without a kit? If this base package can sit low on the 17's....will it look alright, or will I just wish I would have gotten the kit.

Limited budget sucks.

I think u should have went with different rims and saved up for better ones. Or saved up and just got a sport. But u have to work with what u got right. But i don't think it looks all that bad get some more pics with some different angels in there. But yea it should be good with a drop. But really if u are in school and are tight on money just leave it like it is and drive it when u get done with school upgrade the car with something better.

couldnt have said it better myself. I cant look back and wish I got the sport because its a little late for that. I am in complete love with this car right now so I want it to look the best it can. The reason why I'm looking into springs and spending money is because i got a bunch of money for the car this week (its my 20th bday ).

I honestly can't say how it will look haven't seen too many fits on 17's let alone base models. I would say you should be ok without a kit and just lowering but you are definitely going to have to do something the fenders or camber or both if you are going to rock 17's with the car lowered.

Look at it this way if you have the money you can always lower the car and if you feel it needs a kit then save up and put it on later. Who cares if the car isn't complete or if other people don't like what you are rocking right now ( or later ) it is your car and your view on it is all that should matter.

i have the same opinion. I really could care less what others will say but personally, I think the car needs a drop. Of course its not going to be perfect, 75% of the fun is sinking every paycheck into it and upgrading it yourself slowly.

Thanks for the suggestions

Yea man i don't think a car is ever done when u get some one that likes to mod. There is always something u want to change. I still have to get springs, tails, ethier paint stockers or get new wheels. So yea i am on a budget too starting school back up in Jan. I know how u feel GL with the car

Yea make a list of what u think is the parts u want. I make mine and number it like 1-10 and 1 being the next part i want to get. Springs is a big one for me becsause it improves the look of the car so much and better ride from waht i hear. i'm not messing with the engine on mine becasue i am under warranty for 7years or 100,000 miles. so i am only doing looks and some suspension mods. My next mod will be after springs and it will be new wheels. But not to around next spring more than likely. Its nice to do it slow and see the car change into what u want.

Here is a cheap way to lower the car:

On the picture they are shown how to rise the car, but you can flip the brackets around and use them for lowering the car. I have bought a full set of of those just to get a feel of how much I want to lower the car. You will need two for each spring on the car.

hey thanks alot. im pretty excited, I went with skunk2. I'm hoping I dont have to do any more work with the rear bumper or fenders or anything because its only an inch drop in the back and i clear bumps just fine with the little fender rolling i did.

Well to answer your question about the sideskirts, i too have a base and bought the sideskirts (thanks heymikesays). im rockin' them without front/rear lip. IMO it does not look bad at all. and it defenitely enhances the car's look. i'll try to take some pix tomorrow.
