immobilizer in Fit?

Does anyone know the USDM Fit will equip with immobilizer? I did the search but couldn't find any posts for it.

According to the specs at http://hondanews.com/CatID2150?mid=2...35878&mime=asc there is a 'Direct Ignition System with Immobilizer'.

You can't sell a new car in Australia without an immobiliser. We followed the excellent example set by Germany. I'm surprised its not mandatory over there also.

Done wonders for cutting down car theft particularly joyriders / ameteurs. Now they just break into your house to steal the car keys or steal the keys from your person (carjacking).

stupid question for a noob, what's an immobilizer and what does it do, beyond stopping something from happening i assume...

Inexpensive electronic security device fitted to most cars around the world that prevent it being started (stops engine from working) and hence stolen. Costs manufacturers around A$20 per vehicle to fit yet costs end users around A$100 after the purchase of car. Proven to drasticly reduce the theft rate of vehicles. Most alarms include an immobiliser as well as the useless noise maker.
