Odds are the North American Fit will have better acceleration numbers. The gearing in the 5 speed manual is quite short (aggressive). Time will tell.

We've heard reports that the North American Fit will do 0-60 in 8.3 seconds. Once we get confirmed numbers the home page will be updated to reflect the N/A and International version.

So While our version's highway mileage is below cars sold in other markets, I think people will appreciate a 3 sec shorter 0-60 time!:)

8.3 seconds isnt going to happen with 109hp and ~2500+ pounds.

I agree. Thats a pretty optimistic 0-60 time.

It will definitely be quicker than the 1.3L, but I don't think it'll be by any means the slowest vehicle sold in the US market (I also don't think it'll be 8.3 seconds).

The Hummer H1 probably still takes that honor, doesn't it have like a 16 second 0-60 time? I think the new ones might be like 13.5, but still, slow as piss.

How fast is the Aveo? Or the Aerio?

My 1998 S14 does 0-60 in 8.3 with like 2780lbs and 155hp. There's no way a 2500lb 109hp car will do the same.

As I said, "We've heard reports" and have not seen any test to prove or disprove the claim.

That said, TOV and Australian test of the 1.5L fit with 7 speed CVT reported unofficial numbers around 9.3 sec for 0-60 times.

I like a lot of people here will have to wait and see how the car performs when they are on the street.

This concern is sort of funny as we forget what we are buying. This is not a Lexus with extra sound deadening and it is not a rocket. It must be kept in MT and not granny tranny or anyother tip-tronic gadget.

However, lets knock ourselves out with this site on OEM acceleration times.:D

Upon further investigation that one is a wee bit dated but nonetheless there must be other ones out there.

Based on my experience with the 1998 Honda Civic HX CVT coupé (which weighs around 2,500 pounds kerb weight) with the 115 bhp (old SAE net) engine, my guess is that the acceleration for the 2007 Honda Fit will be around 9.4 to 9.8 seconds for 0-60 time. :)

Light weight mods are definatley in order. I am pretty sure I'll have mine down to about 2100 lbs within the 1st week of ownership.

Lightweighting it is a good idea.

Fast for Cheap:
Firstly, wax and polish the car real good, make it breath better with some sort of Air Intake and less restrictive exhaust system. Invest in light weight wheels; the smaller the better. This may sound funny, but make the car more lightweight by getting rid of all the passenger seats and spare tire to start.

I'll be getting a Fit for the stuff in it, not to strip it. As long as I can merge on the highway safely, I'll be happy.

according to TOV asia, 1.5L Vtec eninge with autotransmission(CVT) did 8.8 sec(average) for 0-60mph run. NA version is just little bit heavier but short gearing will evens out. Mid to high 8'sec is very possible with MT.

Hummer is not only slowest car in U.S, it's one of the worst car to have these days. I rather have ford F-150. At least truck is useful.

This mileage report cannot be accurate. There is another that says 38 and one for 2007 hybrid of only 55. And if this car is as slow as this report says without great mileage you can keep it.
