There is no point in doing a currency conversion; it's not an accurate method of deducing the price the FIT will be in the US.

Especially since the Fit will only be offered as a base model or sport, no Dx or Lx trim levels. I'm assuming the Base model U.S. fit will be a blend between the Dx or Lx?

LX = US base; DX has no air conditioning or power windows/locks/mirrors.

thats crazy

My dreams dashed...

From dreaming of between $14,000 and $15,000, the cost is now about $20,000 with taxes (8.6% here), delivery, and licensing. Too much for me. (Hello, basic Yaris? $14,000)

diversity2 03-18-2006 02:07 AM

Through an unsupported educated guess (oxymoron?), I think it safe to assume the Fit will be around 14.5k after tax for the base and 15.8k for the loaded sport in the states. I don't forsee a markup really. If there is, I'm yanking my deposit and finding another dealer.

I agree. I think the Fit Sport will definitely be under 16k.

For what it’s worth I saw the Canadian price of $20,780 for the Fit Sport with an automatic transaxle and was naturally a little bummed. So trying to figure what this might mean in US dollars I did the following calculations. Now these are just speculation so DO NOT use them for anything more than they are: just guesses.

Models, CA/US $ ratio, Fit S w/Auto by ratio
Accord Sedan, 1.36, $15,279
Accord Coupe, 1.29, $16,108
Accord Hybrid, 1.26, $16,492
Civic Coupe, 1.18, $17,610
Element, 1.38, $15,057

Average of all: $16,109
Average of middle three: $15,959

And at a straight exchange rate the prices would jump up:
$1.15 exchange rate: $18,070
$1.20 exchange rate: $17,317

I would tend to lean toward the ratio price in favor of the straight exchange rate but who knows at this point. This is definitely more than the $15,300 I was hoping for on a Sport with an auto trans but compared to the competition (at least the models I have considered) this is resonable and I can't think of anything out there that I would rather have at the moment.

I posted in the other thread on this aswell.....

"Prices in Canada are always more expensive than the US always in the automotive world... We will have to wait and see what Honda of America has for us..."

Any word out about the lease prices for the Fit?

KenClunk 03-18-2006 10:31 AM

The U.S. site is down

The U.S. site is down maybe they are updateing??? It would make sense to release the U.S. price the same day. Does anyone know in the past how long they wait to release the U.S. pricing after Canadian?

I have to agree. My guess is the Fit Sport with Auto will be closer to $16,000. Adding on taxes, delivery, licensing, etc. the price will be closer to US$18,000.

So my estimate of $20,000 was wrong because it was based on Canadian dollars. USD$18,000 is more than I was wanting to pay but as you say, nothing else out there (in the subcompacts, like Yaris and Versa) is as complete a package.

For example, none seems to have cruise control, which is important to me. I also like the paddle shifters, the Magic Seats flexibility which no other offering has. And the gas mileage is acceptable and the 100,000 mile tune-up is great. Add in Honda reliability...well... I'm talking myself into it!

As if Honda Canada hasn't even posted this press release on their own corporate site.

I'm pleasently suprised; while the price of $15,970 is higher than I wanted it's still in the ball park. Looks like I'll be driving a Copper S automatic next month.:)
