I think side mounted plates look just as good as no plate, if not better.

Front plates

I have had my Fit since May of 2007 with no front license plate. I was pulled over in my neighborhood about two weeks ago. The police office asked why I didn't have a front plate. I told him that it looks horrible. He kind of laughed and asked me to put it on. I only received a warning, and put the plate on the next day. I haven't had a front plate on my 91 Nissan NX2000 in over ten years. I haven't driven it much in the last couple of years, but when I did, i never had a problem. I've been pulled over many times by Dallas Police in that car and it's never even been mentioned.

no, it's still illegal in california. many people don't have theirs on the car but just know that you are risking getting a ticky tack citation depending on the officer.

i'm in RI and I have a front plate, unfortunately...but no holes in my bumper from the dealer, secured it with a homemade bracket so at least it's a little better.

I have my plate on now, and may or may not take it off.

I never put front plates on my last 2 cars, and the one before those had the plate covered by a bra.

About 3 years ago, I was in SF and came back to my car to find a ticket under my wiper. I looked at my watch and knew I still had time on the meter....turns out it was a ticket for not having a front plate. The a-hole who gave me the ticket was a parking cop who had given me a warning a few weeks prior. I didn't have time to deal with getting the ticket signed off, and it cost me about $100.

It's required now in CT (did not used to be). I have the front plate on my Fit since there was a bracket already mounted when I bought it, but did not have one on prior cars from 2006-2008. Many people here do not have front plates.
I have nice black plate frames and a clear cover on the front.

It's just a matter of whether you want to deal with bs &/or a fine if you get pulled over.

I have to have a front plate here in Ohio, but am trying to find some better solution. On the GE8, covering half of my front bumper, even if I do get custom plates, just looks tacky

The law in Washington states that if the vehicle is made to have the front license plate then it has to have it, unlike Corvettes and some Pontaics. It's unfair, because it's been proven that removing the front license plate allows better airflow.

You can get a ticket while the car is parked? WTF.

Sign the petition to abolish the front license plate law in California; you might have to be a resident for you signature to count.

In the mean time, I just put my plate down and to the right of where it's supposed to go. Of course, this might be illegal too considering I had to bend it at the top.

Out here the municipalities are so broke that the cops look for any excuse to write a ticket. Then the paper prints the name of everybody they catch, what they did, and the fine. Who needs it? I don't get the purpose of a front plate--drove for years without one in another state. I just put it on and don't look at it.

Here's a video I just found of a guy hassling a cop for not having front plates. Those double standard bastards!

No front plate, but I keep it inside the car just in case. I'm also leaving the dealer sticker on the front windshield (lower right) to hopefully fool them. :3

I just installed my re-locator bracket yesterday. It looks WAY better off to the side
