Costco Auto for an '09
 

I found some threads by searching but most of them were older. Anyone know what kind of savings (if any) I can get by going through Costco to purchase my '09 fit?

Costco does not offer special pricing for the 09' Fit or Civic Hybrid, unless things have changed in the past few months. I know because I work there, and I tried to get my Fit the same way.

Well I filled out a form online and a dealer contacted me within 20 minutes saying to "come in" to get my costco price on an 09 fit.

Yeah... riiiiiight. Any dealer that can't quote a price via email doesn't want your business. Well, they want it, but only to screw you on price or they will try to drive you into something you don't want in order to increase their profit.

I just went to costcoauto.com and filled out a form and supposedly when you go in they knock a small bit off the price for being a costco member.
You know maybe 100 bux or so, nothing big but I might see what happens.

Have you received any quotes from other dealerships? Don't limit yourself to just this 1 dealership because Costco has a deal with them. You may find an even better bargain elsewhere right now.

i know from hearing about it if you ask costco auto which dealers they provide to, then you can save anywhere from 100-1000 on a car.
thats better than nothing i suppose.

In 2007 when the Fit first hit the U.S. market, Costco would explain that their Auto Purchase Program would refer you to a local dealer who would give you the best price on the car you were looking for. "Unfortunately, the Fit is so new and so popular, it is not covered by our policy at the present time. However, our Honda dealer in your area is "---------------------------". Why not call them and see what they can do?".

When I bought my '07 Sport, I talked to or emailed 18 different Honda dealers, and the very best offer I got was $500. over MSRP. All of the others were charging $1500-2000. over MSRP, and/or making unwanted and overpriced accessories "mandatory".

So I called the local Costco-referred Honda dealer, and was offered exactly what I wanted at MSRP. Their statement was, "We never mark any car up at this dealership".

Today, with the edge taken off by time on the EXTREME popularity of the Fit, dealers suffering with low car sales, and the very tight credit conditions, getting Costco's dealer referral might get you a considerable savings on a new Fit. If you are a Costco member, trying the car referral isn't going to cost you a cent and I'll bet that it will save you enough to be well worth the effort.

If you are anything but single, and not a present Costco member, buying the membership will not only help you with a car purchase, but will save you enough money over the next year to more than pay the membership fee.

I shopped Costco and on my own. I wound up $2,000 off MSRP; the same as Costco. The dealer, Stirling in Longview, WA, was just great. They could not have been nicer. Hand waxed, full tank of gas, clean as a whistle and a good deal. One happy camper here.
