I'm shocked by my Fit!

Anyone else getting a little bolt of shock when they get out of their Fit and try to close the door? It's happened every time for the past two weeks when I get out of the car and grab the door to shut it.

constantly.
i blame it on a microfiber blanket of mine, i shock everything and everyone and my fit is no exception.

This time of year, I get shocked on just about everything! :)

Looks like there is actually is a Fit owner in downstate Illinois on this forum. I don't have one yet but hope to soon. May I ask which model you have?

Yeah, I get zapped like crazy. Every time I get out of the car. I'm hoping it gets better when the humidity goes up in the air.

This has been discussed before. I suggested that you put your hand on the door where there is paint/metal and then step out. You'll learn to do it all the time and no zapps.

Yes as above or purchase a static strip to put on the back of the car - this prevents it from happening.

I learned to just not touch any metal when getting out of the car. I just open the door enough for me to get out and use the black plastic trim to close the door.

depending on what i wear i get shocked.

if you dont like getting shocked, get a static reducer. i had one. it really worked

I was just at the Mpls auto show last weekend... can't remember which car, but as I got out holding my baby daughter, we shocked my wife (thru the baby). Heh heh....

Yeah, I get zapped too on occasion.

I'm going to pick up a grounding-strap sometime this week, so I don't have the atmospheric buzz on my radio anymore. I'll take pictures of the install.

+1. i think i use the b-pillar when i close the door. i
dont remember getting shocked.

Don't those static reducers make noise as they drag along the ground? I can't say I like the looks of it either. The auction says it makes your car look better. Personally, I think that reflector makes it look like safety gear for my kid's bicycle. Pass on that, I'd rather get shocked.

I do get shocked espessially now because we are in drought season in Florida. Humidity is low. When the rain comes back, this won't be an issue for me. While it is, I have made a habit of just bumping my upper arm on the door as I get out. The shock is barely felt through the sleeve on my arm rather than directly on my hand.

And for fun I never remind my wife about it and let her get out first! :rotfl:

firefox: style and looks is all opinion, and when i had mine installed, i never heard it make noise while driving
