Fillups

This question was brought up in another thread and I just wanted to address it more clearly.
Edmunds.com noted that the Fit's small gas tank made it a hassle to have to fillup often on trips, city or otherwise.

Those of you who already have Fits, how often do you find you are having to fillup the tank??

If you do the math with the published fuel economy numbers, you'd get the following range on 41L in a manual Fit.

560 kms in town.

700 kms on the highway.

Since most people will likely fill up after using 35L...

480 kms in town.

600 kms on the highway.

(for those that are metric-challenged)

If you do the math with the published fuel economy numbers, you'd get the following range on 10.8 US gallons in a manual Fit.
348 miles in town.
435 miles on the highway.

Since most people will likely fill up after using 9.25 US Gallons...
298 miles in town.
373 miles on the highway.

Not bad numbers - I have to fill up my CRV at the 300 mile mark (mostly Highway driving) so the "fitty" will be an improvement for me :)

My 2003 Civic gets filled up right around 350 miles. I usually try to drive it as far down as I can before filling up.

I loved my Honda Civic EX 5-speed sedans (though, I would have preferred a hatch). On trips, I'd get 42.2mpg, and would drive until I hit around 410 miles on a tank. With the Fit's tank being a bit smaller, it'll be interesting to see how far she goes...

My 92 acura integra (automatic) has to be filled at about 315-320....it's pretty good for a DOHC 1.8...that's a mixture of long steady drives and city driving. The Fit sounds great though...i can't wait to take it for a drive!...ahhh just one more week! haha

Hearing all this makes want my Fit today. I fill up my Ford Explorer once a week after about 280 miles. At that point it takes 18-19.5 gallons. With the numbers you guys are posting my gas milage will be at least two and half times better, can't wait! Thanks!!

ugh... gas just hit $1.05/L in my city... for an oil town that's ridiculous

I want my Fit!

Does the fit really save that much gas? My bro's CRX is about 39mpg, and the civic hatchback is around 33-35, unless he overestimated it. Stil, even if they achieve the dsame mileage, i rather drive the fit than an old civic hatchback.

Not it does no better than the previous small Hondas. It is frugal but it breaks no new ground in that area, and even lags some earlier models by quite a bit. Still - there are not many efficient cars anymore unless you go hybrid.

That ain't nothing :P. Almost 1 pound here in UK (about $1.75) for a litre of unleaded petrol. :(

I don't really fill my petrol fully, I only ever really put in about half tank full worth. On a full tank, I've done about 300-400 miles before.

Gas in the US where I live is averaging US$2.80/imperial gallon. It is funny that gas prices cost more when you live closer to the refineries. The farther you go away from them, the less gas costs it seems :(

I'm getting about 32mpg in my Si, and fill up at about 325 miles per tank. I'm getting about 37mpg in my CRX Si, and fill up at about 360 miles per tank. So it will be nice just having to pay a little less per fill up, and getting about the same mileage per tank.

I can't wait to trade in my Element, which only averages 24mpg, and ranges at 280 miles per tank, but I have to put in 13 gallons, which is nearly $40!!!
