anyone know the rev limiter???

well since i got mine on saturday i already have about 160 miles on it...i have got it to rev up to about 6300 rpms or so close to 7000...and yes i am dogging it a little:o...i am just wondering where it limits the revs cause i dont think i will go higher than that for now until i know where it stops.

Do you think that will hurt the engine revving it so early in its life? My dealer told me to drive conservatively for the first 600 miles.

well i know that its not a performance motor, but hondas tend to rev higher than others...i am just testing the power output when i take it that high...
it pulls nice and feels as if it wants to rev more...i could be wrong but thats what i think...also i want to break in the seals properly, but i will not rev that high for long periods of time just some quick spurs just to open her up when the engine is warmed up...hopefully i wont be the first in NA to blow up a FIT!

don't u want to break in the engine first? for me, the first 600 miles i won't even accelerate fast and keep rpm low, and if i go on freeway i'll drive slow.

Paulo107 04-25-2006 02:26 AM

i have different driving habits i like to rev:D What i am doing is just paying attention to the engine when it revs that high...simply not going crazy with it just some here and some there...i like how it sounds when small motors rev high...after a few more hundred miles i will find out when the revs limits if no one knows so stay tuned for my insane revs:p

I read in the manual that the engine is rev limited but not on down shifts. It is in there. Meaning if you stay in one gear and rev it high and it will stop before killing the engine but if you downshift inapropriately you could hurt the engine.

Don't worry. It's hard not to test the Fit to its limits. SPOON race car is a bad influence. Makes me want to drive just as fast.

If it is like the S2000 the rev limiter is just a fuel cutoff, and while a break-in period is a nice thing it is not a necessity. For those of us transitioning to a low-power vehicle low-rev limit engine it is hard to stay below 6k even in normal driving conditions.

About 400RPM over redline... But I wouldn't know anything about that during a test run on another Fit before mine came in ;)

I think you shouldn't drive spirited with your car yet. Your break in period is probably 600-900 miles. It's okay if you abuse it slowly so you can seal the piston rings.

If refering to me this wasn't on my Fit. Dealer had me test it out in our area and run i out... Wanted my oppinion on it. It is going to just be the shop/dealer car..
