little fit irritations
OK so you back from the grocery store and have some loose change in your hand. You sit in the driver's seat and notice the handy little storage well just under the parking brake release between the seats.
Go home and hey presto your change has gone ! Look carefully and you will notice that the handy compartment actually has no side nearest you and anything you put in there could or will slide off to the side of your seat and onto the seat sliders and beyond. Getting the coins out was a pain without removing the seat. The tank bulging up didn't help. |
Why didn't you use the coin tray just below the mirror controls on the left of the steering wheel?

coin tray
ah the coin tray...
look and you will find thank you. |
LOL!

Are you referring to the little well to the left of the steering wheel? I didn't know that was for change... I always put my cell phone and sunglasses in it.

Learning new things every day. I used to keep my change in the car's ash tray, since I didn't smoke. Problem with that was the coins would sweat and eventually glue themselves down to the tray. Gross.
|
lol i kept my extra screw & nuts in the ash tray....
of course we can opt for this http://www.aj-racing.com/ajpwr/Fit/JDM-coin-tray.jpg but come on it cant hold all my change... heehee... |
I got a change holder that fits into a cup holder (sorts quarters, dimes, nickels, etc). It's actually in two parts, with the top being the sorter, and the bottom being simply a cup, where you can toss stuff, until you can sort it. I removed the bottom cup, and dropped the top portion into the rear cupholder (behind the hand brake), where it now sits (almost) perfectly flush with the top of the cupholder.

Wow I actually use that to put my ipod (parking in safe locatoins). Can't berlieve it is like that. But i think it's useful if u add a console accessory, cuz then it can be in one continous space.

Here's a view from the back seat, showing the coin sorter in the rear cupholder. Keep in mind I removed the lower "cup" half, and have only the sort portion dropped in (click on the thumbnail to view larger):

Now I saw this small little area and only noticed it on the Base model at first and then saw it on mine the first day I had it LOL...

Digital Tire Gauge
A credit card co. offered gadgets for the cost of S&H ($3.97). I ordered the digital tire gauge before I bought my Silver Fit and it just arrived -- design and color make it look like it was made for the Fit. So does my travel mug. I discovered that the cup holder has a little notch exactly right for the handle. There are little compartments here and there and I'm figuring out what works best for all the odds and ends I keep in the car, including the garage door opener (which blends into the interior almost too well). At first I wished for a center compartment like my Accord had, but all these little niches seem to be neater. Nothing gets lost this way.
|
I thought I would be hurting, going from my pickup truck that has a HUGE center console to the Fit, but the size of the Fit's glovebox makes up for the lost space, with room to spare. My pickup's box is barely big enough to hold the owner's manual.
