Performance of North American market Fit's low-beam headlights

I keep seeing consistently critical feedback on this forum and others by owners who say the low-beam headlights on the new Fit being sold in the US and Canada are performing below their expectations; most also say that the high-beam headlights are fine, it's just the low beams that they're disappointed in.

So just how bad -- or good -- are the low beams in the new Fit? Please rate their performance on the above 5-point scale. (And please only participate in this poll if you have a US or Canadian Fit, since Fits sold in overseas markets have different headlights -- in fact, some of them are even available with HIDs! Please do, however, feel free to comment on your Fit's headlights by posting a message in this thread, regardless of your location! :) )

How bad are they, is it the beam pattern or light output that is bad??

As in the other post, the lights are just set to shine too low. Must adjust them.

Passed on this concern to Honda when they phoned for the dealer survey.
Sorry oncoming traffic going to need to blind you so I can see.

I haven't noticed any problem with the height or positioning of my lights... Be careful of adjusting them too high though. Here in BC that has a pretty decent fine.

does anyone know how to adjust the light higher? I should turn the switch to let or right?

cheffyjay May 11, 2006 03:32 PM

perhaps with a car that we can load lots of stuff into the back of, they aim the lights low so that they don't blind when the car is loaded/nose up?

sillypuddy May 11, 2006 07:11 PM

i think you guys are confusing light output with the aiming

you will notice, if you park in front of a wall, that there is a very sharp 'cut off' .. it looks like a mountain top rising on the right hand side of each "beam" ..

this is to shine away from oncoming traffic, but the light hittting the ground was about the same as my other two cars
