Insurance Rates on Fit?
 

hey guys, potential Fit buyer here. if i purchase one, it will be my first new car purchase(which is kinda scary), but i can put down a nice down payment and get my monthly payments pretty low. im wondering what you all are paying on average for insurance? im a 19 yr old male, with a clean driving record, but still i,nsurance at this age sucks with anything.

25 yrs old and I pay $130 a month with zero tickets on my record... This is using Progressive Ins.

Im not sure but if you still making payments on the car you have to put it on full coverage, or atleast thats how it is over here. I think i'll just save up enough to buy one cash and just put the insurance on liability.

this'll be my first new car purchase too. i asked my insurance company for a quote for the new car and it didn't go up by as much as i thought it would. the fit was made to be "insurance friendly". have you tried getting a quote from the ins. company you're with?

I'm 35 and no accident, not tickets since 6 years, pay 51,30$ can/mo (including guaranteed replacement)

25 yrs old, with no tix , $130 p/mo and live in Bloomington? Man, you're getting screwed. Why not at least check the locals - Country Insurance & Financial Services and State Farm for comparison. That's way too much money, what do you have a zero deductible or something?

I've been thinking about switching to a Fit, but the cheapest insurance i can possibly find is still like $2400 a year for the Fit for some reason....I currently drive a WRX and its only $1400....so i don't really know what to do. I called like 8 different insurance companies and they all said the same thing.

Yeah, most of the companies have been saying that after about a year the prices will adjust correctly, after they get crash test results and user data.

What insurance companies are you guys using? All these people have said how much they are paying, but few have mentioned their company.

When I was looking, just for yucks, I asked for quotes on the Yaris, Matrix, and Cooper in addition to the Fit (this through Allstate)

For some insane reason, the acturary gods gave the Fit the most expensive rate, followed by (if I remember right), the Yaris, Cooper, then Matrix.:eek:
I think I'll be looking elsewhere for insurance.

This makes absolutely ZERO sense to me (well, ok, the Yaris does). But why on earth would a Cooper and a Matrix cost less to insure than a Fit, all things being equal????

When you talked to them on the phone, did you tell them you had a Fit? Every insurance company I talk to says:
"We don't have that in our system, so we'll insure it based on the price.", so I tell them "about 15K" and then it usually ends up being some absurd price. One company even quoted me $3400 a year@!

They had it in their system, at least I assume they did. He had some trouble looking it up, because he was assuming an 06 model - when I told him 07, he found it.
The only other explanation that I can think of is that the other cars he looked up were 06 models - maybe there's already some built in depreciation on those???

$1484/year, survival insurance. I have one at fault accident that totalled my car, so I guess it's not that bad...It has good student discount, and I'm 25.

When I looked around, the Fit was cheaper than the Scion xA.

Those numbers are crazy! How is it some of us find $60/mo roughly $720/yr and then there are those who get $2k+. I guess it helps being over 30.

My insurance is Wawanesa, I think they only cover CA & OR though.
