so i was at the dealer this weekend..and while my car was in service, i was peeking around at the 2010 fits. I had noticed on the car's sticker, it says 90% japan parts...while 10% are non-japanese.

When i got home, I checked my own window sticker for my 2009 Fit sport and it was 100% made in japan with 100% japanese parts.

so any clues on what changed for 2010 guys?

 

that 10% might just be the fatty in the drivers seat.

 

The other 10% went to the company Toyota used to make the gas pedals. lol

 

tires might be made in thailand...

 

i've read somewhere a long time ago that they were going to start buildng the fit stateside.
maybe those 10% account for exhaust systems, bumpers, finishing touches etc..

 

Honda may be taking a page from the domestic manufacturers, and sourcing an increasing number of parts from China to reduce cost and increase profitability.

 

yah, knowing the raw materials dont just grow in japan (not much natural resource) i dont think the 100% is even true.

 

Will be a sad day when Honda Fits are made entirely in the USA. I like the fact that our car were made in Japan and shipped over to the USA. Alot of people will say that car is a true import!

Personately i don't care.... My 100% Japanese Fit have more rattles and stranges noises then my buddy's ''Made in Canada'' from ''whatever'' parts Civics....

doesnt really matter where its made its the design and who keeps an eye on the factory

 

but out of the 4 japanese(?) cars i bought that were made in the US/CANADA, all of them had warranty problems that required either a tow to the dealer or dealer to take the car for about a week. 3 of them were hondas.... one was a subaru.

 

I was excited/surprised when changing my springs that one of the shock parts was labeled made in Germany. Of course I don't remember specifically what little part that was.

 

If my fit were made in America, at least I'd have some defense when the locals all but accuse me of stealling the bread from American worker's children because I bought an import car.
