Angry SoCal Honda Dealers: YUCK!

What is up with the dealers here? I know the car is in high demand, but I can't get a Fit to save my life. One was coming in that was exactly what I wanted and I was ready to do the paperwork and then it was promptly sold to someone else the same day. The dealers will NOT take deposits, won't let me order, and generally won't figure out a way to get me what I want. My experience with a dozen dealers has been INFURIATING! I won't even bother to list the many reasons.

If any Honda salesman reads this and is commited to figuring out a way to LET ME BUY A FIT, PM me or something. It's a cash deal and I'm ready to buy.

Some of the ones I've dealt with told me that if i was willing to sit down and start the paperwork, when the car comes in, i can just stop by and pay em and finish the work. One of em didn't even want a deposit, just wanted me to start the paperwork.
Of course, I'm in the IE where they probably aren't as in high demand like they are out near the beach, but yeah, give some of the IE dealerships a call.

Decent thought. Got any dealers in particular in mind? I tried to start the paperwork and someone else came in and started it before I got a chance. It's pretty sleazy considering I'd have given a non-refundable deposit on the car, or done what I had to to reserve it.

My experience in WA was also awful. Takes the fun out of the Christmas morning feeling of buying a new car. Went through nine dealers before I got a reasonable price and a minimum of BS. Hang in there.

This is BY FAR, like leaps and bounds and mountains, the worst car buying experience I've ever had. Thanks for the encouragement. Honda dealers...wow. So much for establishing a long-standing relationship.

I feel ur pain... i was 20 min away from getting my fit. I got a call from my salesman at Honda World in westminster and i went in with my whole family. Saw the car loved it (Storm Metallic Sport Manual Tranny) took another car for a test drive cuz it was on the showroom floor... after that went in looked at the car and told the guy " i wanna buy it". So we go fill out the credit app, he takes it and comes back and tells me "some other guy sold it 20 min prior" he claimed he didn't know but yeah i was ****en pissed... and thats my story. But its been hell trying to find a dealer with that car, and when i do find it the dealers wants wayyyyyyyyy too much over msrp. Costa Mesa Honda wanted like 18,000 or more for a Sport Manuel cuz it had some "package" which was only like wheel locks and some other rip off stuff.... so yeah if anyone has any suggestions on how i could get my fit it would be greatly appreciated.

Yeah dude, i think the hard part is that when you fill out the paperwork or tell them "im coming back tomorrow to buy it!" the specific dealer you worked with can't put dibs on a hot-selling car. Now if it was a Ridgeline or somethign, that would probably be fine, but when there are lines around the block for fits, they probably can't do that unless you have really put some money down or something.

There's that honest problem, then there's just crappy dealers. I'm thinking most Honda dealerships are the latter, so someone, please give us SoCalers some hope.

My Honda minivan shopping experience put me behind the wheel of a chrysler.
Dealer took a deposit but now I worry that they do that to take me 'off the market' and that there really isn't a car on the way. Still stalling with the VIN #. Wouldn't that be a neat trick for them to use, keep me strung along? Ugh.

integradriv3r...Dunno if you tried sprithonda in el monte, but I was just looking at their website inventory and they have a storm metallic silver sport in manual. It's listed at 15200, but i'm sure there's a mark up. That's the first dealership I went to when the FITS came out and they wouldn't sell it to me at MSRP, but it's worth a try if you really want it.

LOL... thats kind of funny because i went to that westminster dealer as well to talk about purchasing that silver sport M/T. But after going back and forth i just walked because they wouldn't budge on getting rid of their 1k markup.

It's pretty BS that they go as far as getting all of your credit info before telling you the car is off the market. I've only visited westminster Honda to go through actual talks.

Any review of the Dealer at the Cerritos Auto Sq?

Here in NJ I talked to 4 different Honda dealers before I bought.
They all told me they weren't marking up like other dealers are (I thought it was bs, but I guess not).
How far are you from Nevada? Can you try a different state?

The Bureaucrats of California have deemed it illegal to buy a NEW car out of state.

Ditto that. I got mine there (Bjorn, did you get yours yet?!). Leon was my salesguy. He and the manager were both really great and helpful. Highly recommended.

as of yesterday, Norm Reeve's Honda in Murrieta had a Black Fit available (my sister-in-law called me). She said it's been sitting on the lot for about 2 weeks now.

I'm not interested in black though.
