Any thoughts on were to hide the wheel locks in the car?
I have 3 sets of wheel locks on my wheels and 3 different wheel lock keys.
I am getting tired of carrying them with me all the time. Any thoughts on where to safely hide these 3 locks in and around the vehicle? http://www.topnews.in/files/car-thief_0.jpg http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3547/...fdd0f1963e.jpg http://loyalkng.com/wp-content/uploa...l-jacked-1.jpg http://images.worldnow.com/forbes/im...213772_BG1.jpghttps://www.hyundaipartsonline.com/i...ck%20cover.gifhttp://nerdnirvana.org/wp-content/up...idingplace.jpg |
Be creative, put them somewhere that even the most enterprising douche-bag wouldn't think to look. I would make a mesh bag and attach it to the back of the glove-box. Not on the inside of the glove-box on the outside up under with the HVAC piping and what not.... That GTR pic always makes me cringe...

Since you have a GE, you could put them in small compartment under the driver's side rear seat.
|
Get a cutesy stuffed animal, gut it, put the lock in the animal and hang it from your rear view mirror.
|
Hmmm, compartment in driver's seat would probably be the first place I would look at if I was a thief. Stuffed animal could tear the glue off the glass along with the mirror. Behind the glove compartment sounds like a good idea.
Do many people know it's removable? |
What's the deal with the snake pic? Now my curiosity is peaked and I absolutely need to know the story.
|
To be honest I don't know, just found the pic on the web. I put it here as a thought of another security :) kind of a surprise for thieves to find under the hood.
But I assume they crawl into engine bays to get the warmth from the engine. This could be in Florida or somewhere in Indonesia or South America. |
The glovebox isn't removable under normal circumstances. I would keep a phillips head screwdriver in the console just for removing it in case of a flat. Most thieves would never make the connection.

You're too paranoid about stock wheels.
Just keep them somewhere hidden |

Do many people know it's removable? I wouldn't worry about keeping the wheel locks in what I like to call the 'secret compartment'. It's out of sight and not in the glove compartment or armrest console (if you have one) which are the two places thieves would look, IMO. I had to have my tire replaced and was back and forth to the tire place maybe 4 or 5 times and the same tech worked on my car each time. Each time I forgot to get the wheel lock out for him beforehand, each time he had to come get me and I got it out for him, each time he watched where I got it from... and each time he acted perplexed as to why they weren't in the glove compartment. Even after he watched where I got them from and I explained that I never keep them in the glove compartment. So... yeah. LOL. It's a secret enough cubbyhole, I think. I'm of the opinion that wheel locks are just a deterrent anyway. They can be gotten around by a determined thief. It's more about making the wheels a pain in the ass to steal so they move on to another car. |
^and where would this 'secret compartment' be?
|
If we told you, it wouldn't be a secret, now would it?;)
|
:( i dont have wheel locks anyways, so there. Hahaha i should invest in some with the new wheels and everything though. i guess i just like living on the edge.
|
dont worry, they dont need your key to remove the locks. :D hahaha.
|
That GT-R pic hurts, but all I can think is the owner should've known better.

no thank you. |
LOL I was talking about the compartment under the rear seat on the driver's side, which is why I quoted what I did. But maybe I'm just saying that now to throw you off from the real secret compartment. >_> lol

I know if I ever get a flat im F-ed but I keep mine in my tool box in the garage. If I do get a flat I have AAA so I can always give them a call.
