Tire Pressure Light Issues - without tire pressure issue?
 

Hi - I am far from home and far from a Honda dealer and my TPMS light went on. I had a nice local man check the pressure. One was down to 29 and one down to 30 on my 7 month old FIT. Light is still on. :vtec:
I've driven about 7 miles since then, back to where I am temporarily staying. Could it be that a bumpy desert road set off the light and/or the cold and/or that one was down to 29? Do people sometimes have a faulty TPMS light but not faulty tires?

I read all the threads I could find - can anyone advise or console me? The light makes me nervous. I guess in a couple of hours I'll go out and drive about 25 miles and then return to the man and see what's what.

once your tires are up to pressure, the light goes off pretty early during your first drive. easily within the first few minutes or mile.

i struggled with my light for a while, running around, checking and rechecking the pressures, driving 10 miles, rechecking the pressure, etc - the light would stay on no matter what I did. it was maddening and i thought my car was a pos.

it turned out my pressure gauge was reading a few pounds too high, and thus my tires were always a few pounds low. just put a little more air in your tires, or try another gauge.

Definitely check them again and make sure you haven't got a leak. The light will trip if your tires go under 28 psi I believe, or if there is a drastic change in pressure.

Check the tire pressures again. It takes a while for the light to go out. If you know your pressure is OK and the light bothers you, cover it.

That's an old pilot trick. You can't take your eyes off of something that isn't working so to keep from being distracted by it, put something over it.

What is more reliable--the tire gauge or the TPS sensor? My guess is that you can trust a good tire gauge.

Thank you so much. I drove quite a bit ... maybe 10 miles ... and nothing. So just as I was turning into the tire fix-it man's place: bingo! Light went off. I was so relieved. Thank you very much for your attention and concern. Came back here to make hot tea for the thermos before heading into the deep desert again. I shall say hello to the sky for each and all of you. :D
