i dont mind spending more on a car if i truely like it, but honestly there is not one car that i REALLY want right now unfortunately.
GT-R would've been my choice if it came in 6MT back 3yrs ago when i bought my 370Z.

been saving up for the next gen G-coupe. hope nissan doesn't f- it up again like they did the G37C. i had to skip an entire generation. lol

That is the problem no cars out there that I really like in a hatchback. I was looking at the Focus ST actually was ordering one ST2 got about $1,200 off sticker. But lost interest plus would have to replace tires since it only came with summer tires. The GTI was nice but next year there should be a redesign. If VW brought the Scirocco over I may spend the money. Or wait for the next generation Fit and keep modding my 95 Miata.

yah, it's really unfortunate. buying another FitSport was at the back of my list as im not a fan of my 09 AT FitSport at all due to its sloppy transmission...my wife likes it and she needs cargo space so ive kept the GE for 4yrs now.

after test driving, reviewing, watching vids of other hatches, there was not one hatch that convinced me i should be buying something else than a MT version of the GE.

after taking ownership though, i was pleasantly surprised how good my '12 MT was. especially the power delivery. it's not a rocket by any means, but it's plenty fast and enjoyable. im really happy with the purchase.

The Focus ST doesn't have an all-season option? That's lame. I get offering it only in MT but at least give the customer a choice of speccing cheaper tires if they need all-seasons.

Other hatchbacks - Mazda3? MazdaSPEED3? Fiat 500 Abarth? WRX? Mini? Those are all more performance-oriented options. The Abarth is a more credible performance car in my mind than the GTI, which has gotten (similar to Audi's S cars) to be more of a higher trim level than a substantial performance boost.

New lighter Mazda3 next year though; likely new WRX too, and looks like we may get a Fiesta ST in the US if the beancounters agree, which ought to be a hoot :P

when i was looking for a hatch i was looking for something that was functional... like carry my 370Z wheel sets with tires to tirerack, and then some. my GE can handle this easily... but no luck trying to do that with an abarth. hahaha.

ive already had bad luck with MINI and WRX in the past. MINIs aren't very cargo friendly either unless you get the clubman, but still not that great. no magic seats either. when you count everything in, the GE just comes on top still.

Keep an eye out for Fiat 500 Turbo too, a little bit slower than the Abarth but cheaper. Breathing mods will probably make it faster than the stock Abarth but you know they won't release a lower model that's faster than the flagship out the showroom

I would get one if I didn't need all the room the Fit has to offer.

Yes, I had the same decision as you and sometimes I still second-guess just because I want more power lol.

we looked at a 2010 Civic sedan, saw this 2009 Fit Sport for $4k less and had less miles so we went with the Fit. I have a friend with a 2009 Civic sedan and he just has too many complaints about it (A/C is terrible, gas mileage is way worse than the Fit, handles like crap)...i'm really happy i went with the Fit over the Civic, i'd get the Fit all over again if i had to.
