KONI looking for ‘09+ Fit near Cincinnati for strut/shock test fit. FREE PARTS
to all of that.I was amazed at how fast parts were "developed" for the FRS.
I knew it'd take a few years before shocks started coming out for the Fit because like hayden said, there's not that much money in it until the cars get a little older. I'm just happy this is finally happening.
Its fairly clear, how many shops both in US and abroad are going to have FT86 as shop demo cars vs. Fit demo cars.
A lot of FT86 owners will mod their cars, very few Fit owners do so, and when they do, they don't actually do things to improve the car. Just some cheap wheels, parts meant for other cars, springs and then complain about the lack of aftermarket.
Fit has weak aftermarket because there's no market for it.

It's also just a 100% different market. The Fit is an econo box, bought typically for/by high school/college students, by commuters, or OLDER FOLKS. Of those three demographics, only the first is usually interested in Modding, and they typically have no $, or no interest in anything but aesthetics.
The only thing that MIGHT help develop more parts, is for the Fit chassis to garner some acclaim in certain circles. SCCA B spec racing is one. I'm doing my part in SCCA Solo. Even then, the FlashPro released for the GD... Was there a huge reinsurance? Not yet... I remain hopeful
Pushed back a week as of this morning.
We have arranged to use your Honda Fit next week for the test fit of the KONI struts and shocks. Would it be possible to push that back one additional week? I have just been informed by our Engineering Dept. that we have still not yet received and have no way to track some key components that were shipped from Holland for the KONI Sport damper prototypes to be used on your car. Without having useable tracking info, we don’t know if those parts will arrive this week or next week.
We apologize for the delay but think that it is going to be most efficient use of the time with the car here if we have those prototypes pre-built and ready when your car arrives. Apparently the Fit front strut uses a much longer than standard piston rod that had to come from overseas. Would the week of June 10-14 be acceptable? We can make arrangements for the after business hours drop-off on Monday the 10th?

They (the STR.T's) were installed with no issue. I can definitely tell a difference in the ride and feel. I believe it's just a slight bit lower, measuring in at 7 1/2 inches. I have some pictures and will upload them tomorrow.
I'm not sure personally.
Anyhow, pictures:
Rear passenger

Another picture of the shock;

Strut;

Looks to need a car-wash. Measurement from ground.

I've put about 150 miles on them since I got it back. So far I'm thoroughly impressed at the smoothness of the ride.

I had read that, but since
I am not familiar with Koni's code,
that is why I ask here...
I was too lazy to search the Koni's catalog for the code myself
by the way, if this is the entry level,
I thought Koni suppose to test your car (Codi's car) for fitment for the higher performance one, like a coil over kit or something (I think that was what I read here several post ago),...
so in the end did Koni test your car with the higher performing one,
if they did,
it is only fair for them to give you the higher performing one and
not the entry level one...

When I had spoken with the gentleman at drop-off, much like the first post, he seemed to only want to test the STR.T's. There was an email at one point that mentioned testing the Sports, yellows, however, when I was speaking, he said they were saving those for an CR-Z. Sadly, I did not get to speak with him at drop-off, and someone actually met me about 30 minutes from the facility (at a movie theater parking lot) versus me having to go through Cincinnati. I did not get time to speak with the gentleman who dropped it off whether or not yellows were tested, etc. I know when I did drop it off, they had the set of oranges (STR.T) on a table and he was describing them, etc. He said he thought there might be a set of the yellows, but didn't know where they were. I honestly couldn't be too upset either way. They are a decent improvement over the stock shocks and struts and other than some gas, I didn't have to pay a dime. Heck, they even filled the car up for me when they returned it to me. I can check with them and see if they atleast tested the yellows, but I wouldn't be surprised if they just used the data they collected from the oranges to help fit the yellows.
