Extended warranty is like insurance. You buy it for high risk items. I have purchased extended insurance for some "high risk" cars - Volvo, Mitsu, Nissan. The Volvo and Mitsu made use of the extended warranty, the Nissan did not take any advantage and was total waste of money. For the FIT, I didn't buy the extended warranty because it is a very well built and reliable car - low risk.
