General Fit Talk General Discussion on the Honda Fit/Jazz.

I wish they made a clear plate cover with a logo or that would fit over another cover

But, for the REAL definitive report, just wait until claymore wakes up. He is just bound to have some horseshit to add because he WAS (maybe) an ex-supercop, ex-Marine black ops assassin, ex-EOD (bomb disposal expert), and ex-rational human being.

If you had reading comprehension skills you might have seen I made my point several posts back. Winning again.

Whatever. I have had some form of clear/tinted covers for 20+ years and never been questioned. Currently been running blue lights on the rear plate as well. I had a stop last winter for something else and it was not raised.

Now my wife got a warning for the strips of LEDs in front on the van. Cop said not allowed to run blue on the front. Well they are white but at times may look blue. Still have them on. She gets more compliments for those $5 LEDs than I do for the Fit.

the only issue i had a while back when i tried the clear lens over the plate was that i got clouding inside the lens between the plate and lens. and after many cycles, the moisture left behind a stain line and just didn't look very good.

so i run no cover, and just order new plates when the plates are banged up from normal use.

I have a tinted cover but it was sold to me by the BMV here in Ohio. So I guess it's legal. I mean if I bought it there right?

I don't have anything on the front because it's messed up from being mounted to low on my old car. I just haven't cared to order new ones.

I purchased clear one from Amazon with a black frame around it. Just search Amazon for the "Bell Automotive 22-1-45601-8". It was like $6.

I thought they were illegal here in Ohio as well, until I seen them selling them at the BMV. I looked into it a little and our law states it can't hinder in the reading of the plate. So I guess clear is the only way to go since I'm sure the smoked could be a reason for the officer to say he couldn't read it because of the smoked lense.

I have clear covers on the van.

The LEDS I can see you having issues with. Who knows why. But yeah I see that posing a greater issue then a plate cover.

To beat a dead horse here:

A driver in Ontario can receive a ticket under s.13 of the HTA, especially in the winter she the snow kicks up, covers your plate, which therefore obstructs the view of your plate to everyone. We see this all the time in the winter. People driving. Plates are obstructed due to snow.

So even without the plate cover, you could technically get a ticket for something covering your plate?

I guess the maple syrup up there has something wacky in it. I see dump trucks with plates that are covered in dirt going down the highway without an issue.

I guess it all boils down to how effective the cops want to be.
A regular plate cover, even tinted is worthless for a stop. What a 100 buck ticket? Yea, a cop is going to waste his time, tax payer dollars for a ticket that would get thrown out of court.

Cops look for more serious issues to pull people over other than just a stupid plate. Sure a law is a law, but some laws are over looked on purpose.

According to what I just pulled up on google, here in Ohio, where I'm at, it's illegal to get a fish drunk. Would a cop care, probably not. But it's a law.

Everything on the internet isn't true.

Do some of you still have your V card? Getting all technical behind the keyboard because you want to be politically correct on a website about a 1.5L SOHC Honda?
Sure it's nice to see what can be done with it, but after doing the work on my truck, I think i'll mod it and the Fit can be the DD. Cuz I could spend 10k on that 6.2L American V8 and get probably into the 9's with it. I spend 10k on a Fit, well it'll look cool and might keep up with a lightly modded V8.

Nah ya can't kats. Well anything is possible. But primarily speaking a plate cover, it covers but does not obstruct. With the snow example the snow actually covers and obstructs the letters of your plate making them not visible to other drivers on the road. A plate cover only covers yet still shows the letters and numbers whereas the snow on the plate does not.

End of the day, you can have a cop that doesn't even know what a lug nut is lol.

Yea, when I lived in Oklahoma, I got a ticket for a cover blocking my plate's expiration. Messed up thing was, I just bought it. So I got hit with no insurance, registration, tag cover, all kinds of crap. Court dropped most of it because it was new to me.

Oh well, I'll stick to the south of the Canad-eh border. At least with my drivers license being from out of state, I can maybe BS my way past a ticket.
