Replacement key costs?
What are you paying for a replacement fob with the buttons?
What are you paying for a replacement valet key? Does the Fit come with a valet key? Our local dealer (Pauly Honda) said to make a replacement key, bring the vehicle in along with all the keys you have. $130 for a new 2-button fob. |

Half the cost is to program the key, incase you were wondering if your getting ripped off or not. |

Price varies from dealer to dealer but price sounds about right. Fits do NOT have a valet key of any sort, just a basic valet-like key for the early Base models and a black 3-button (Lock/Unlock/Panic) Keyless Entry key for early Sports (and all models in the later years).
You don't absolutely NEED to bring all your keys if you are simply adding one additional key to your car (a tech that knows what they're doing can simply add 1 key without affecting the others)... unless of course you lost one, then that lost key will need to be deleted from the car (the lost key will still open the doors mind you). |

I had another intelligent key with fob made a few months bock at a local locksmith. It cost me $65. He took less than 5 minutes to cut the key and another 5 minutes to plug in to the car with his laptop and program it.
I was is and out in 15 minutes. |
I'll have to check local locksmiths. People around here recommended the Ace Hardware as an "expert on car keys". Ace said "we can only make a valet key, but it won't start the car." So how is that a valet key then??

Valet key of sorts, it can operate the locks including the steering wheel. Can be used as key for travel while towing or to get you into the car if you keep a spare inside. Probably wrong term to use as usual valet key can start and run the motor, while this one without programming will start it and the computer shuts it down in 30 seconds. Salesman promised an extra key and after the sale said he couldn't do it until I said I only need it to unlock steering. Make sure you get stuff in writing, including the promised free oil change that didn't get recorded at the dealership service department.

I've got a similar question for me 13 Fit Sport. I visited my local lock specialist and they said I need to have the right alphabet on the key before they can program it as the chip needs to match. I've seen some similar original Honda keys that have the P alphabet while mine is L.
Does anyone know what this entails? |
$150/key... which doesn't include ½ hour of programming, depending on shop labor, assume around $200/key
|
Mine was $70 + tax for the key and $60 to program.

Tow warning.

I bought three keys from Bernardi Honda last week for under $40 each, and my dealer (Bill Page Honda, VA) cut and programmed all three for $83, so it came to about $65 per key.

Valet key will open car but you have to pop the plastic latch next to shifter and insert key to overide lock on putting car in Neutral. FYI. |

That is absoloutly correct. You can also buy a "t5" stamped key which is a lot cheaper and does not require programming. I cant remember if t5 keys can come with the keyless entry or not but i can check if u want.
