Why does the alarm go off when passenger gets out and I don't?
My 2015 Fit is the first car I've had with an alarm. I remember reading in one of the manuals that the alarm sets itself automatically under certain conditions which I couldn't remember. Apparently one of the situations is if I park the car, the passenger gets out (or just opens the door, or leaves the door open?), and I have 30 seconds to put away sunglasses or fiddle with things inside the car and get out (or just open the driver's side door?) before the alarm starts going off. And then it won't shut off if I just hit the button on the keyfob. I have to get out of the car and hit the button?
What's the point of the alarm going off in those conditions? Is it only when I fail to open the driver's door within 30 seconds, or open and close it? It just scares me and makes me look like a moron. Any tricky settings I can change so it won't do that?
