2012 Honda Fit - won’t start
My 2012 Honda Fit , Hybrid, Japanese import, with keyless entry fob won’t start. I thought the fob battery was dead and replaced it. Im now getting a little red light on the fob, as if it’s workong - but it won’t let me lock/unlock/start the car. I removed the key from the fob and opened the car with that. But when I put it in the ignition, the key turns and the dashboard lights come on, but that’s all. The engine doesn’t attempt to turnover in any way. I don’t have a spare key.
Please help! I only bought the car two weeks ago

First let me say that we do not have the hybrid version of the Fit here in the US. So our experience with it will be very limited.
Normally the Key Fob has to be programmed to the individual car. This is done by a locksmith or Honda dealer by plugging in to the OBD2 port under the dash and setting the FOB in the body computer software. I have never done it but I have watched my locksmith friend do it in about 5 minutes.
In the future when the FOB goes low, have the new one there ready to swap. The remove the old one and immediately insert the new one. You do not have much time to do it. Usually less than 5 or 10 seconds with the battery removed. I just replaced a 2016 Honda Fit FOB battery about 2 weeks ago. I did it in less than 5 seconds and the FOB works OK.
