Oops I loosened the wrong bolt trying to drain the engine oil

Does any one know the torque specs for the 17mm socket head bolt on the automatic transmission that I mistakingly loosened thinking it was the oil drain bolt. It's a 2010.

step 1:
-Googled it

Thanks but those are not the bolts I loosened

kenchan 12-18-2018 08:41 PM

LOL.. just snug tight is fine. you were not thinking enough when you started the work, now youre thinking too much.

Davethegoat 12-18-2018 08:54 PM

Haha that's the truth

evilchargerfan 12-18-2018 09:24 PM

post #11 mentions:

"Automatic transmission drain plug, ** lb ft"

is that not thr droids youre looking for?

Davethegoat 12-18-2018 09:40 PM

Lol. No it's not the drain bolt. I had a brain fart and forgot where the engine oil drain bolt was. I thought it was this other 17mm bolt that is near the transmission drain bolt.
I'm sure I'm just being a worry wart.
I tightened it back to 24 ft lbs and hopefully that's fine. I'm not even sure what bolt it is. While I was loosening it , it dawned on me that it's not the oil drain plug because it was long and no crush washer was present. It looks unlike any of the others

why do we need 2 different threads on the same forum about this?

Sorry I didn't know what subforum was most active for a quick reply. Didn't mean to upset anyone. Thanks for your help

there is a link up top titled "new posts", where myself, and i assume others go to see recent posts. meaning, pick the closest relevant thread to post in, and it will show up in "new posts" regardless of the threads popularity.

the thing to keep in mind is a forum is not a "rolling" chat room...meaning everything that is posted remains "forever". there might be a thread that already exists on exactly what u are looking for. when we are in a personal situation and there is even a slight panic, we want a quick answer vs having to comb through dozens of threads. i know, ive been in that situation and made posts that have already been covered...meaning no harm of course. its better to resurrect an old thread with your question if u need elaboration. chances are, even though it might take 10-15 minutes to read all the search results, you will probably find your answer sooner than if you wait for a direct reply.

now, think of future people searching.....after you...in the same panic... that will search fitfreak with your same question...and now have to comb through your additional 3 posts to find their answer. probably clicking on the same one several times accidentally as i did, confused, since they are titled the same. you posting 3 times, the same topic, contributed to the same thing you you didnt want to deal with in the first place....reading allllllllllllllllllll them posts.

try using googles search engine (instead of fitfreaks search engine) with your * topic+fitfreak * ..as it pulls up better results...Evilcharger has made a wonderful demonstration above.

there are plenty of people here willing to help. just remember, you are contributing to a wonderful, extremely helpful, time saving resource. please help keep it efficient.

anyways...hope your oil change went well :D
