Some People got a ReCall Notice on AT Fits

Hi All,
I just read in a thread on here that someone got a recall notice due to Airbags going off too soon. Did any of you get one? I couldn't find the thread again.
P.S. My little gas light comes on every 350 kms. What about you? Also, how many litres of gas do we have once the light comes on before we actually run out of gas? Thanks

there's already like 2-3 threads with this topic. Yes there is a TSB/Update for the SRS system. You need to take it to the dealer. It takes roughly 2.5 hours. Obviously, under warranty.

My dealer called me up before I even got any letters. I'll be doing it sometime next week.

As for mileage... do keep in mind that fuel efficiency is especially worse during winter. With that said... Im one of those people that have a Fit that ain't as fuel efficient.....

my gas light comes on at about 340-350kms...than i drive it till exactly 400kms before fueling up again. i already have 8800kms and it actually got worse...than when i bought it. i remember my fuel light came on at 417kms at week after buying it with a full tank of gas.

Why didn't they fix this before I bought my new car? Shouldn't they have told me as this was barely 2 weeks ago?

Also, I thought that the FIT is popular as it's supposed to have one of the best gas mileage around. It think 7.3L/kms in city?

I'm sorry, I don't know what TSB means. I think if you scroll down from the Vancouver site, you'll see the thread. It was started by someone in Texas and people in California have now received the notice too.

TSB = Technical Service Bulletin...

And I also received a letter from Honda notifying me of the airbag update. I got my Fit on April 21st -- early US model... they may have already fixed the problem in more recent production or it may be limited to just US and not Canadian models so maybe not everyone will be notified.

There's a lot of back & forth about this on the Forum after a second crash test result came out and I was expecting to get a notice from Honda. After the NHTSA gave the Fit a frontal-impact five star rating, IIHS found that the front airbag deployment could occur too soon. The dealerships will have to reprogram the SRS control unit. I called the place where I bought my Fit. Just as the Honda notice said, they want the car for "at least half a day." I bought my Fit in April of '06; took delivery on the official release date. The IIHS report only came out a few months ago, so probably any Fit built before then has the airbag problem.

PREMATURE DEPLOYMENT, what will they think of next. Yeah, got the notice in the mail, will take a half day. NOT VERY IMPRESSIVE. Thinking about skipping the whole deal. What are they going to do? How much are they going to compensate me for my time out? What am I to do for 4 hours? Sorry, am going to have to pass on this whole mess for the time being until I get further details.

I see by your posts you are new on this forum. Take some sage advice and be sure and inform
any passengers and/or drivers of your Fit that the air bags may deploy too soon and so they know who
to sue should they suffer facial reconstruction, etc.

Or maybe a sign inside the car for others to see that you could not be bothered to get the free safety fix.
And be sure to inform any buyers of the same.

Excuse me if this is a stupid question...but...

What does that mean, early deployment? So...on impact, they come out too soon? Or does it mean, that they come out before impact? I just bought mine end of Janurary 2007. Do you think it's affected? Shouldn't they have told me before I bought it? Thank you.

My dealership phoned me on a routine service call today. I have them checked my Fit to see if it is on the recall list and they told me Honda sent me a letter on February 9th in regards to the SRS recall. I still haven't got the actual notice yet but my dealership welcome me to bring the car in to have it fix anytime. Just for your information, I bought my Fit at the end of Sept 2006. Cheers.

I posted under the "warranty" thread about my SRS recall experience. Including some other minor work, my Fit was in and out of dealer service in about an hour and 40 min. Call ahead for an appointment, make sure you're in the dealer's computer as needing the warranty work done, and make sure you have your letter from Honda with you when you go! I almost got turned away until I showed that letter.

Couple of days ago I got the recall letter, as it's free-of-charge I'll do it anytime soon, Saturday only...
Gas light comes-off at about 340-350 km (city driving) and always driving it up to 400 km to fill-up with 40 l... so 10 l/100 km in the city and about 7.2 l/100 km for the open road, but I drive an 5AT Sport model, using paddle shifters a lot, so my model is way heavier than the other Fit ones..
35,600 km since Aug.1

Just got mine done the other day. I found out about this problem months before I actually received my letter in the mail. Anyways, it doesn't take long to fix the problem.

When I first purchased my vehicle, I was getting approx 350 kms before my light would come on... now it typically last me, on average, 400 kms before I have to fill up. Roadtrips I can get to 500kms before my gas light comes on.

I think the owners manual says you have approx 6 litres of gas remaining after your gas light comes on.
