SCCA Jan 25 Sunday Test and tune

Now is the chance for anyone to drive autocross for fun.

It's an open practice day at Aloha stadium lower parking lot. Sign ups are until Jan 21 so don't delay.

It is run all day with instruction in the morning and open driving in the afternoon. Some lecture instruction and walking the course with discussion from an instructor.

Cost is $45 for the event and weekend ($15) or annual SCCA membership ($70 for full and $45 for under age 24).

I signed up my son. Since I referred him he got $15 off the annual membership for drivers younger than 24 years old (normally $45 per year).
I had to put down my SCCA membership number and name to get the discount. Once you have the membership then you can run any SCCA autocross event for $25 in the next 12 months. $15 for weekend membership also possible- can be applied to annual membership later.

There will be scales there in the morning if you want to get a car weight or do corner balancing (adjust your ride height and re-weigh). $10 cash per weigh or $40 for unlimited all morning. You get the weight on each wheel and the total.

Only the registered driver can do the driving but you can drive other people's cars and go for a ride with more experienced drivers or even have them drive your car and see what it is capable of.

Any car can participate except for SUVs, minivans or anything with a very high center of gravity. I think Scion xB and Sukuki Sidekick/geo tracker not be allowed.

For more info-
Welcome to SCCA Hawaii Region Web

Even if you don't drive come by and check us out. The event is free for spectators and $1 if you park in the stadium area.

For any one remotely interested, this is the event you were waiting for. It's not competitive, you can test out your mods only you are going to see the time clock and run as much as you want. Get to meet Mini Fit (Dr. Brad) haha. (my vote for 10 best mods)

Come out bring a cooler, big hat and sunscreen. :wavey::wavey:

Hey ha-y-nferio!

Shucks! Wish we knew you came by. We could've brought you and wife inside. :(

Yeah, the Test-N-Tune was awesome!...just run after run after run... We did 10 runs that day!

It was great trying a bunch of different settings and driving techniques. We got additional instruction from the long-time auto-xers. Tom and I even swapped Fits for a couple of runs! Also, we got to ride in Brad's GTR! Woohoo! Gorgeous and Vaaaarooom!! The dream car!

Here's a video of some of the runs: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gd7TRG97VSE

And yeah, it'd be great to have you out there with us. Stay safe on your deployment. Look forward to seeing you at an upcoming event. :)

Anytime you come to the events please do let the gate person know that you want to contact the Honda Fit drivers and we will get you in a little closer to the cars. The gate person will call us and we can get to the gate and sign you in as "pit crew". If you have shoes we can lend you a helmet and you can go for a ride during fun runs at the end of the day.

Usually test and tune events are once per year, sometimes in the fall and sometimes in the winter before the year end championships which is March 8 this season. New season begins at the end of March. We then have an April event then season end Banquet in June then more events in July to Feb.

There can be as many as two events per month in the late summer. Depends on how many dates we can get from the Stadium. Season lasts 12 events usually so any extra dates are used as test and tune.

Since the March 8 championships are run in the morning usually there are fun runs in the whole afternoon. This year there might be more drivers in the Championships since the requirements are relaxed to any drivers that have competed in at least 7 events in one class can drive- compared to last season when only top 5 per class were eligible.

If you do bring out your Civic let us know. What mods do you have on it?

ha-y-nferio 01-26-2009 11:41 PM

i'll pm you:)

Here's a video of a run with an instructor.

He gave very helpful information about the "braking points," acceleration, and other miscellaneous stuff.

Here's a secret.:popc:

After reading all this you have become motivated but you need another test and tune date to come out. Then mark your calendar for July 26, 2009 Sunday. I know I'll be there. And I know what I'll be driving.:vtec:

That's great! Another TnT!

I hope they have some slaloms in the next TnT course. It would've been great to have practice taking slaloms & triying different settings on them.

Brad, are you going to stop driving the MiniS and start driving your GT-R next season? :vtec:

kingsize 02-02-2009 04:22 AM

HOLY CRAP a GTR.. wow brad, congrats on your new car!

everyone must've been stoked.
