Spirit Honda, El Monte CA, REAL BAD EXPERIENCE
last weekend we went to test drove the Fit Sport, it was off to a good start, they have a white AT in stock as well as a orange one, i was driving the white one.
first of all, i loved the paddle shifting, so much fun to play with, and the handling of the car is great, didnt play around with it too much, since both my parent and the salesmen were onboard
after the test drive, we went into the showroom sat down. now comes the bad part, the sales was really pushy, all he wanted is sell the car to us at $21k. the car had some dealer accessory on it, HFP rims, paint thingy, and few more. we were talkin about how much we are willing to pay, we dont really care about the monthly payment. but the sales was like can u acutally afford the car?! im like WTF, if we wanted we could buy it in cash, but we still have other payment, and so on. but the thing is, we dont care about the montly payment, we said that many times, but sales was like ignoring that part
then we say we want to pay the MSRP price, b/c the asking price is $21k, i was like, theres alot more option for cars around $21k, i can buy other cars for the money, the only reason we choose the FiT was simply b/c the money and the stuff you get for the price. he was like totally ignoring the fact i said this too... then he started, "do you work for free, b/c i dont" im like WTF you talking about, you sell the car u get ur damn money, just higher the price the more commission, am i correct?
they totally pissed me off...
it was just a horrible experience, i would NEVER EVER take a step into that dealership again!
on the other hand, we went accross the street, to longo, great experience there :P

Sorry to hear that. Some sales people are just a bunch of pukes! All of them want you to focus on the payment being affordable and not the actual price of the car.
Rule of thumb is always call and ask for the internet sales department and work your pricing from there. What did you get at Longo?

Alot of the SoCal dealers like to play the price game. The funny thing was, theres so few fits down here. I went up to western Canada last week and we went and looked at the hondas. We saw a lot full of these fits so we were like wtf when most of the dealers we asked in SoCal said they don't have any.

yeah they were like "oh we are the largest dealer in SoCal, only us have them in stock" im like WTF you talking about, every dealer should have one or two, just the timing and the avaliability
we went to longo to see the Scion tC, Yaris and the Corolla
the sales there was alot better n he took us in a Camry SE V6 white OEM lip kit, b/c they dont have any more golf carts, btw the camry look so sexy

Sorry to hear about your bad experience. I'm a representative from Norm Reeves Honda Superstore in Cerritos, CA. I am not a car salesman, I am the "Styling and Performance Specialist" at the dealership. What I do is handle all of the aftermarket parts for the dealer, somewhat like a local tuning shop. $21 grand for a basically stock Fit does not sound right at all. I modified one of our 07 Fit Sports (one of the jobs that I hold here is to preload dealer cars with aftermarket accessories) with Tanabe springs, Honda Access window visors, tint, exhaust tip, interior trim kit, and a Fujita intake. That package, along with the car was just under $21 grand(and thats with the $495 dealer markup, but recently changed to $1495). For all you Southern California members, you could contact me and I would be more than happy to direct you to one of our salesman.

My wife and I had a very bad experience at Spirit Honda in El Monte as well. I would tell anyone even thinking of checking out that place to probably go to another dealer. I went there back in June hoping to strike a deal on a AT Fit Sport or at least get on the wating list and the sales person name "Raymond" was giving me very ridiculous numbers. The price was about $22k OTD. I tried to bargain with this guy to bring it down close to MSRP but he just walked away from us and left! If anyone from Spirit Honda reads this post....
YOU GUYS SUCK ASS!!!
I finally bought my the Fit I wanted from Downey Honda at MSRP and I have been happy ever since.
Mike Kye: BTW I bought my 06 Odyssey from you guys back in May this year also. I have to recommend Norm Reeves and Honda World because they give exceptional Customer Service!!!

Hi Folks,
This is a great thread. I am lurking on this forum. While I am 95% sure I am gonna get rid of my 2004 PT Cruiser GT for a Fit, I wanted to see how ya'all like your Fit's. I like my PT, but the gas mileage is killing me!!! I get around 19MPG - but I have a lead foot, ya know?
I email a guy named Louis from Spirit Honda every once in a while, he seems nice enough, though we haven't talked numbers yet !!! LoL.
Last time I emailed him, I told him I was waiting for Honda dealers to get a boatload of Fit's, as I am not sure what Fit I want (color, transmission type, etc). Somedays I want a white one, other days, I want a red one.
Any idea when the Honda dealers will get a truck load of Fit's?
You have a great forum here, thanks to all who contribute to it.
Patiently waiting,
NuBiker

the fit is an awesome car. to say the least, i've owned a 97 bmw 328is, 00 lincoln navigator, 02 audi a4 1.8t, 03 infiniti g35 coupe, when i first saw the fit, i just thought that it was a small car, body lines looked nice, but the power numbers looked weak. i built one at the dealership (using just tein springs, fujita intake, and 16 inch rota wheels) and boy can i only tell you what fun this car is to drive. i frequent the canyons (azusa and los angeles crest) quite often, and i could only imagine taking one of these out there. the handling on the car is unbelievable, some even say that the car handles better than any previous model civic. test drive one, you'll fall in love. take the turns hard and play with the paddle shifter, you won't be disappointed.
on another note, we just got 8 "used" fits just last week. i think we have 3 or 4 of them left. i'm at norm reeves honda in cerritos, if you want to come by and check them out. im nto a salesperson but i can give you a referral to a good salesman if u'd like. contact me at mkye@normreeves.com for more info.

Just have to comment. I had a 2003 PT Cruiser GT manual tranny. I have a SSM MT Fit and I absolutley LOVE my Fit. I was worried that I would miss my turbo power but the Fit is so zippy, I don't miss it at all. The only thing I think I'm going to miss is the heated seats I had in the Pt Cruiser but we have cold winters here in NY, but the Fit heats up fast so I think I'll survive.
