fit and s2000

i have a fit sport now, do you guys think is wise choice to get a s2000? i want a fast car. :(
i was thinking STI, evo, 350z, G35.. but since i alrady have a 4 doors fit, i would rather have a 2 doors now.
what do you guys think? :o
thanks!

aywwsd 05-21-2007 06:00 AM

get a corvette.

s2000s are slow, so are 350z.

u already got a 4 door fit, little reason to get a evo or sti.

wait for the new 08 corvette to be out, you can probably pick up a 07 vette for dirt cheap.

friends288 05-21-2007 06:19 AM

i dont like muscle that much.
evo and sti are nice, but when you look at the side of a 2 door like 350Z, G35 and s2000, that look! no word can describe it. .. so clean...

haha, how ironic. I'm looking to trade in my '03 S2000 within the next year or so, and call me crazy, but right now the car I'm most seriously considering is the Honda Fit... wanna trade? :D

I got my S2000 a year ago used, with 45k miles, and now I'm already up to nearly 75k... so needless to say, I drive ALOT. The S2000 is my daily driver, and my only car.

I love my S2000. I think it's still one of the best looking cars on the road. It's a blast to drive, it handles like a dream, the gearbox is arguably the best in any production car, the engine is brilliant, and the top is fast and simple to operate. While it's not the fastest car I've driven, it's still plenty fast for me... and if you're used to a Fit's acceleration, the S2000 will probably knock your socks off.

Now for the bad (and ultimately the reasons why I'm trading it in).

The S2000 simply isn't the best choice as a daily driver. While the 2004 and newer models are more tame, they are still very "raw" and "hardcore" as a daily driver. It gets cramped and uncomfortable on long drives. The trunk is basically worthless. For a 2.0L 4 cylinder, the gas milage is pretty poor (I average 18-24 mpg, and it only take premium fuel). It's loud as hell... at interstate speeds you find yourself turning the volume on the radio all the way up, as well as straining to hear people on your cell phone (at 75 mph in 6th gear, it's running at 4100 RPM). I've been inconvenienced many times because I couldn't fit something in the trunk, or because I could only carry one passenger. In bad weather, this thing is a death trap... the car feels nervous, unstable, and the rear end slides all over the place. It's also very dangerous when it's pushed to its handling limits (snap oversteer). Because it has so little torque at lower RPMs, its tiring and straining to drive it around town or in traffic (but the 04+ cars aren't as bad). Oh and aftermarket parts for the S2000 are outrageously expensive (hence why mine is still stock :p ).

Because most of my driving is long road trips or freeway commuting, I don't get many opprotunities to drive the S2000 fast, or take it through twisty back roads... which is really where the S2000 is at home. I also don't put the top down all that often either. So I'm starting to realize I can't really justify driving the S2k anymore. With as much driving as I do, I really need something quiter, more comfortable, with more room, and better mpg. Don't get me wrong, I'll miss it when I'm gone, but I'll be happy to get into a new car too.

Bottom line... S2000 is a fantastic "true" sports car experience... but it's really not ment as a daily driver, in my opinion. It's best off as a weekend toy, or as a second car.

http://members.shaw.ca/u2007/IMAGE_00010.jpgsounds like s2000 is not that good. lol. for me fit is my first car, i dont really have other car to compare. but last time i was on the highway, i try to speed and pass people. but it reach it limit of 140km/h, and it was loud too, specialy when go up hill, i turn on the cruise control, the rpm it was over 6000rpm. it have no power at all. =( eventho i already added the T1R intake.

yea.. i checked the aftermarket parts for s2000, they are insane.. compare with fit aftermarket part. fit aftermarket part seems like toys. i been doing research on fit parts overall, but when i look at s2000 and sti, i have NO clue. lol

the reason why i want a s2000, i think beacuse of the look. and some speed too, i know is not as fast as a evo or sti. but is faster than most of the car on the road. and people look at it with respec. lol.

this pic, i love it, i wish i have a s2000 like that.

Just to give you an idea... that S2000 in the picture has at least $4,000 in mods, if not more. Hell, just an intake for an S2000 is $1200. Then exhaust is another $800-$1800 or so. Beyond that, the engine is pretty much maxxed out without dropping thousands of dollars on a power adder.

I bought an S2000 for the looks and speed too. But when you're behind the wheel, remember, you don't actually see the exterior of your car, lol. Sure the S2000 may garner more respect than a fit, but who really cares what other people think? All that matters is that YOU are happy with your car.

I can only recommend the S2000 to you if you will regularly get opprotunites to drive it fast through twisties and stuff. Even then... as a daily driver, there's a good chance the novelty will wear off, and you'll be bothered by all the little inconveniences. I say again... the S2000 is really NOT ment to be a daily driver or commuter, and is under NO circumstances ment to be a city/traffic car! It's best suited for short enthusiastic drives, as a weekend toy or second car. Driving an S2000 in bad weather or stop and go traffic is a NIGHTMARE!

FITTUCINI 05-21-2007 11:42 AM

s2k all the way!!!!!! but they run like 30 perhaps the new si fg coupe

Ro_Ja Boy 05-21-2007 11:56 AM

I just picked up the Fit to relieve my S2000 of it's daily driving duties. I am very happy with the Fit and like it a lot. I haven't driven the S since I bought the Fit because it's been in the paintshop, but I bet that when I do, it is going to feel way faster than it usually does. Going from 100hp to 200+hp is a world of difference. :)

im kinda a

im kinda a nissan guy ive owned 240sx nissan trucks and the like so i would say if you want a bad ass sports car and you can afford a sti or a evo then you should buy the nismo z its coming out this summer it gets 20-27 mpg respectivly wich is not bad at all for a car with 300 hp better than a evo or sti and im pretty sure ive seen several occasions where the z is better. the z also weighs more wich you could argue is bad but ultimatly it keeps your ass on the ground and if your affraid of sliding around that wont be happening.

thats just not true.

s2000 is slower then a 350z coupe, about even with a 350z vert, slightly faster then the g35, about even against the old evo8, much slower against the evo9/mr.

reading s2ki too much will melt your mind. s2000 is a low 14s car that traps around 100m. it's going to get it's ass kicked against a evo9 mr that runs high 12s and trap 107mph, by buslengths...

Top Ramana 05-21-2007 04:48 PM

lol get an rx7  , if you don't mind the maintinance 2k oil changes, spark plug changes every 2 oil changes, rebuilds lol, but you'll be quick

I said from a roll, and you'll hand a z's ass easy!!! do you own an s2000? to know this? a 2000' s2k runs 14.2's bone stock, evos are slow when not race from a dig, thats awd for you

i've driven a couple s2000s.

it doesnt matter from a roll, new evo's with a 10.5 hotside have so much top end, it will run all over your s2000, it wont even be close. you lose by 1 bus length from a roll, you lose by 1 city block from a dig. thats the difference.

and s2000 do run 14.2 bone stock, what you dont realize is 350z runs high 13s, old evo run mid 13s, new evo runs high 12s. 14.2 is slow, that's s2000 for you.

do you know what a comma is??

and do all nissan owners buy fast cars based on gas mileage??

p.s. i think you should go tell nissan, they are idiots for reducing weight with carbon fiber on their new track version skyline evo spec and charge 40k more. instead they should just put some more dead weight in the car, because ultimatly it keeps your ass on the ground and if your affraid of sliding around that wont be happening.

s2k's aren't straight line cars. they're canyon runners.

it's a nice roadster and "cool" to drive around if you got the $ to spend.
