BMW brings us Gold!

BMW's 128i and 135i Coupes Come to America in 2008 - AutoMotoPortal.com

"The powerful 135i Coupe features BMW’s twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter inline six-cylinder engine that produces 300 horsepower and an incredible 300 lb-ft of torque from as low as 1,400 rpm."

I am not to thrilled about the styling but I would think that this would be the car I would want to own. I am not sure if the hatchback is coming or if it is just the coupe, but there has been a 5 door seen in CA being tested.

It is really hard to tell just how big that car really is with out having another car next to it for refrance. but I really like the styling of the 5 door that I saw and did not think that it had that much power though are they front or rear drive? I did not see.

Looks like a nice car. How much?

It rear wheel drive, but the 335i has AWD option so it might eventually have that as well.

I have read a lot on them so far and they said it will fall in between a 3 series and a mini in cost. So mid 30s probably. I have heard that the engine responds really well to mods. Intake, downpipes, exhaust and a chip run about 430hp and torque.

For size, think a little bigger than a 07 civic coupe. But weight I think is around 3400lbs!

Dude, I love the 3 Series , I especially love this one, I love the upcoming M3 even more.. V8 420+ hp.. red line 8k+RPM!!?!

I should stop before I turn myself on anymore :D :D

This is about the new 1 Series, which is like a lighter, cheaper 3 with the same engines and available (at least in Euope) as a hatchback. That sounds remarkably like my dream car :)

It will also be available (again, maybe only in Europe) with BMWs efficient dynamics system, which is kind of like a mid hybrid but without the hybrid part. It uses regenerative breaking to power the accessories and has an automatic engine stop when you are at lights or in a drive thru or whatever.

I really hope they make an M1 :) If they can fit the TT3.0L in the 1, why not the V8 from the new M3. THAT would be a killer car.

I've been following the progression of this car a month ago. Have the same dilemma...contemplating keeping the Fit or upgrading to this beast.

If they bring the hatch over here I will be getting one via Euro delivery. If they just stick with the coupe I think it is a no-go for me.

watermelonman 07-17-2007 07:07 PM

Yuck. It will probably be too expensive as well.

deezfit 07-17-2007 11:06 PM

nope you sir are wrong the entry 1 series will start at 25 grand and the 135i or should i say m1 wannabe will be at 35grand. 35grand for a 300hp m3 killer, can i say hell yes?

Papichat 07-18-2007 02:25 PM

I'm definitely buying the 135i Coupe in 08, but I'll be disappointed if BMW makes a M1 soon after.

thedeadpoet000 07-18-2007 03:51 PM

They might pansy out and not make an M1 version with the V8. If that came out, people that wanted the V8 would simply buy the cheaper M1 and ignore the M3 altogether.

If they do make an M1, chances are they'd upgrade air flow for a small bump in power and up the handling.

BBRFit 07-18-2007 04:34 PM

Its to heavy

Well if you read it on the internet, it must be true.

ghostfit 07-18-2007 06:53 PM

the m1 would be the twin turbo 1 series. they would not put a v8 into that. would i imped on m3 sales maybe. but the m1 would be a more hard edge car than the m3. so the m3 would be for people who want performance but in a bigger and a little more luxurious package.

deezfit 07-19-2007 04:43 AM

its funny how the original m1 series was a actually a lackluster 6 cylinder lambo wannabe looking car and the 135i will never be badged an m1 since that will kill the m3's sales. If they were ever to actually revive the m1 badge they would make a 100k plus sports car, thats not either a m5 or m6

it wasn't a lambo wannabe, it was designed by Guigari I believe and was set to be manufactured by lambo. Even though it didnt have an italian v12 or a porsche turbo, it was still a good car
