New Fit vs Old Fit

New Fit has been tested in Feb Best Motoring. It ran .48 sec faster than the old Fit to finish 1/4 mile. However, at the track, the old Fit's best lap is over 1 sec faster than the new Fit. Both Fit have really similar fuel consumption and both being CVT in the test.

there are actually 5 cars in the test, Susuki Swift sport, mazda sport, new Fit, old Fit, and the toyota Yaris. They picked Susuki Swift Sport as #1, mazda sport #2, and new Fit being #3.

your totally right about the swift haha what is the aveo there is another name for the aveo in a diff country. iono sorry ahha

Lyshk0 01-15-2008 05:51 AM

i believe the aveo is a daewoo of some sort

Mr_ET 01-15-2008 10:29 AM

I was pretty sure the Aveo and Swift shared the same plateform at least in Canada.

The swift being the "higher end model" of the 2.

I think the new Fit will be like any other car. It will have a bigger engine, more interior space, bigger exterior dimension, probably bigger brakes and of course a higher curb weight.

Since the new one is only marginally faster in a straight line and quite a bit slower in the curves, I would bet it's not quite as fun to drive.

I will have to wait until I see it in person to pass final jugement but it's not looking good for the second gen in my books right now.

aveo and swift is the same in Canada. but in japan, the Swift is totally diff.

The Swift is a gorgeous car, a lot of people in China have them. Supposedly they rival the Mini Cooper in performance. Now is Suzuki brought those to the US, they could have a really nice following. They're already on the right track with the SX4 IMO.

I saw them in Malaysia, and they look kinda like the Myvi as well which i actually liked. Although there, they are a dime a dozen.

SD_MR_FIT 01-18-2008 01:57 AM

wow that swift looks bad ass. i would rock it most def.

wow im glad i got the old fit then. being a second faster in the track means a lot.

strutking 01-18-2008 01:59 AM

old!!! the new one looks okay

MINI-Fit 01-18-2008 02:30 AM

Sounds like the old Fit is still quite a fun and nimble car compared to the new one. We will have to wait and see how it does when released in the US.

When I was in Singapore I saw the Swift Sport. Very nice.

i would venture to guess those numbers don't mean much to us americans, seeing as we don't even have a cvt option here. cvt transmissions have very different performance characteristics. i would venture to guess a test between 2 mt fits would yield different results.

though for handling, it seems to line up with the specs for the new fit, everything i've read indicates that the new fit is more geared for comfort than performance. we'll just have to see if the new fit can still out slalom a ferrari :P

MarkB 01-18-2008 01:18 PM

I think the new fit is heavier to. That will hurt handling.
I can't believe that the Aveo was named #1 in the Motoring ( show?) I guess they don't mind looking like idiots.

Aveo and Swift Sport are totally different car!!!

North America version Swift is same as Aveo. But in Asia or other country, they are totally different.
