My DSM's
Here are a couple cars I used to have.
The first one I bought in 2001. It was my first DSM and it's what got me hooked on them. The first thing I did was put a 3" down pipe and exhaust on it and an ACT 2600# clutch. I could launch it at 6000rpm, sidestepping the clutch, blowing all 4 tires off. It was an amazing experience, driving around with AWD and turbo power. 1992 Plymouth Laser RS AWD Turbo http://www.speedsoutheast.com/pp/data/589/front.jpg http://www.speedsoutheast.com/pp/dat...on_Laser4b.jpg http://www.speedsoutheast.com/pp/data/589/P1010081.JPG http://www.speedsoutheast.com/pp/data/589/P1010075.JPG http://www.speedsoutheast.com/pp/data/589/P10100802.JPG http://www.speedsoutheast.com/pp/data/589/PB070076.JPG http://www.speedsoutheast.com/pp/data/589/P91700011.JPG http://www.speedsoutheast.com/pp/data/589/PA280055.JPG http://www.speedsoutheast.com/pp/data/589/PA280058.JPG The next one I got was a 1991 Eagle Talon TSi AWD Turbo. It had a LOT done to it. Ross Racing Pistons 8.5:1 bored .020 over, Eagle 'H' Beam Rods BJ's Stage 4 Head with Comp Cams 101200's (like the HKS 284's), all ARP bolts (mains, rods, head studs), Fully Polished Forced Performance GT3052 Dual Ball Bearing turbo with 3" turbo-back exhaust, AEM EMS w/WB O2 tuned to 20psi, 20˚Advance Timing, 93 octane, 0 Knock, Wilwood 6 piston calipers with 13.1" Vented Rotors, Team Rip Engineering Stage 4 Tranny with extended 1st gear, ACT 2600# clutch, 710CC injectors, Walbro 255LPH HP, D2 Full Coilovers, 18"x7.5" Enkei RP02-J in Special Brilliant Coating(very rare color), Yok 225/40/18 ES100s.... and on and on... 1991 Eagle Talon TSi AWD Turbo http://www.speedsoutheast.com/pp/data/589/P40307931.JPG http://www.speedsoutheast.com/pp/data/589/P40307941.JPG http://www.speedsoutheast.com/pp/data/589/p1010047b.jpg http://www.speedsoutheast.com/pp/data/589/p1010005b.jpg http://www.speedsoutheast.com/pp/data/589/p1010021b.jpg http://www.speedsoutheast.com/pp/data/589/P10107281.JPG http://www.speedsoutheast.com/pp/data/589/P3260789.JPG http://www.speedsoutheast.com/pp/dat...esidewheel.jpg http://www.speedsoutheast.com/pp/data/589/meside.jpg http://www.speedsoutheast.com/pp/data/589/merear.jpg http://www.speedsoutheast.com/pp/data/589/medave.jpg And a racing vid: MySpaceTV Videos: My Talon AWD Turbo vs 2000 Firebird LS1 by Jay Dog Photog Both have been sold and gone for a while. Both money pits. The Laser made about 325whp and the Talon made 470whp on pump gas. On race gas, I would have shot for 600whp. That thing on street tires would cut 1.5 sec 60' times and mid-low 11's in the quarter. |
Nice. I have always liked those early Eclipse/Laser body styles. Much better than the last couple Eclipse designs. :)

nice! i like your talon. must have been a neck-breaker to launch in that car huh.

my buddy at work had a laser that ran 10.6 at the quater mile track back 4 years ago. he injured his knee and had no insurance so he ended up selling his car.
he tells me all these stories about it, and has other co workers vouching for him. makes me want one, since he says they are so cheap to modify. |

And that was with 18" wheels and tires no less! I had to go 18" because a 17" wheel would not clear my ginormous brakes.
The tires were Yokohama ES100's. I would launch at 7000rpm feathering the clutch, and hang on for dear life. In the vid, I cut a 1.52 sec 60' and the LSJaun next to me cut a 1.75 60'. With slicks!
