New BMW GINA abandons metal "skin"

Check this out: it's a new BMW concept that has a cloth skin that is seemless and configurable on the fly. Take a look at the video and pics. It's definitely worth checking out.

at least you don't have to wax it... you might have to iron out the wrinkles though.

you dont need to iron out the wrinkles because it is stretched over the entire car.

I hope it's shrink resistant, it would be pretty embarrassing if your Bimmer got downsized every time it rains.

Sweet, you can just toss it in the washer if you get mud on your car :p Can use some bounce sheets to make it smell nice when you dry it out.

I'm surprised there aren't more comments on this thread. IMO, that was sik as hell when it looked like the car was opening up its "eyes" to reveal the headlights. Definitely bad ass...with a bad ass price tag I'm sure...if it ever makes it to market! :D

Anyone else find it a little perverse that the car is called the GINA and has a split in the middle of the hood?

I think the acronym is actually G-NA, but they added the I to make it work. Maybe perverse if it was pronounced gIna, but lo, it's pronounced GEEna.

on a similar note, i can stick a fist up my muffler.
