I sent my application first week of June, I got my cheque August 8.

Did you get at least a letter saying they'd received your application? I got that about mid-July.

I sent mine rebate in May and got it 10 days ago.
$1000 cheque from the feds.

yea my letter is dated 7/23/08. i called them today and they told me 12 weeks from that date. i think that is a terrible turn around time to verify 2 things ones of which is probly only a few key strokes on any fed computer

Ouch. I bought my Fit back in June and the dealer told me it usually takes about 6 weeks to process. It's been more than that now, though I have received the "We've got your application" letter.

Maximuz 08-19-2008 06:46 PM

yea my dealer told me like 4-6, its been 8 now.

Sadly, they only offered the rebate for cars which had a combined highway/city mileage of 6.5 L/100 km.

The 2007 Fits didn't even qualify. Honda rightly complained that some of its competitors which did qualify for a rebate, were missing some built-in safety features.

Mind you, I find Transport Canada's mileage estimates unrealistically optimistic. The USA's EPA revised their estimates last year to be more realistic.

Yeah, the eco rebate was enough to keep me from buying an AT. Losing the rebate would have nearly doubled the cost of going to an AT. Which is a shame because the Fit has an excellent AT, with five speeds (unheard of in this segment) and a taller top gear than the MT for more relaxed highway cruising (who needs 3000rpm for 100km/h?).

Though it was probably for the best because if I had gotten an AT model I would have had to bump up to the Sport model to get the paddle shifters.

Maximuz 08-23-2008 12:51 AM

yea its a bummer that the AT doesnt qualify, im lucky i wanted an MT from the begining

My rebate cheque showed up yesterday. I mailed off my application on June 18, so it took a bit more than two months to process.

stendzme 08-27-2008 11:29 AM

Two months for me... Just came in two weeks ago.

Two months seems to be about average, although maybe things are slowing down now due to all the goverment types taking vacation?
