Euro Civic to replace RSX?

I for one think its a great idea. 4 door coupes and hatches are very popular right now and the TSX (euro accord) was a successful. The evolution is only natural. Anyway...

I don't know why the HTML is not working so just cut and paste.
What do you think?

No way. The euro civic has no common lineage with the rest of the acura lineup. It has the rear torsion beam suspension and weak engine choices. That means it would way weaker than the current RSX-s with respect to performance.

4 door entry level luxury cars are popular in America. I dont think the same can be said for 4 door entry level luxury hatchbacks. Well see how the Audi A3 does here.

With the 06 Civic Si currently better than the RSX-s (and cheaper), I think the RSX is done for. There really hasnt been any talk of a replacement either. Which I dont mind, since the 06 Si is like the RSX but better.

If Acura wants to be a real luxury brand, they need to get rid of the RSX. It made sense to have it 10 years ago, but times have changed.

TSX didn't have a common lineage with the Acura line yet it did fantastic in this market. Besides i'm sure it will have close to 200 hp when they bring it over.

I posted this on VTEC and quickly found out Hollywood Extra is a worthless blog.

...

Umm, yes it does. The TSX has the same basic platform as the TL. They both have double wishbone front suspensions and multi-link double wishbone rear suspensions. The TL happens to be the best selling Acura as well.

The Euro Civic would be really out of place in the USDM Acura lineup. Torsion beam rear suspension on an Acura; the heresy!

While the Euro Civic has the luxury, it simply lacks the performance to make it an Acura. You have to remember, Acura is trying to define itself not as a value oriented luxury brand but instead as a performance oriented luxury brand.

99% of buyers don't know, don't care. People said the same thing when the civic went to struts. Besides, there are some outstanding handling cars out with with torsion rear suspension. From all the reviews I've read in Top Gear and CAR, the handling is fantastic.

Enjoy

Lets not forget the RSX is a Civic in drag.

Someone was talking about styling, not specifications.

The RSX failed miserably at replacing the DC2 Integra and Prelude. I sure won't miss it.

K-series > B-series any day

interior is so much better as a car, more luxurious.

The RSX is a fantastic all-around car and superior to every DC2 aside from the Type R.

Lots of previous generation owners will piss and moan about how the new one sucks, regardless of what it is.

^i find that to be true.

ha-y-nferio 06-14-2006 04:46 PM

why do people have to talk dirty about the rsx? in my opinion they are both very great cars. although, myself personally...i would rather take the rsx body with the interior and engine of the new Si. i don't like the exterior of the new generation civic. i like the power tho. acura should have named it integra tho, not RSX! integra, like it is in Japan. even so, i still love the RSX.
