JDMxGE8's DC2 Picture/Progress Thread
 

Having sold my DB8, I've been without a track car for a few months now. I've been shopping around for a new replacement for a couple of months now and recently came up on a pretty good deal. Last year, I used to own a DC2 shell, but I never really got the ball rolling with it. So I ended up selling it to a buddy of mine. He recently put the DC2 shell up for sale, because he came up on a Datsun 240Z shell. As soon as I found out about the DC2, I called him up and got her back. The funny thing is that I named her Destiny when I first bought her. Coincidence?

The Plan: To build the DC2 for time attack. I plan to compete in the Redline Time Attack, Super Lap Battle, and the Super Street FF Battle. It will be entered in the Street class in RTA and SLB. Game on.

First Stage: Rebuild B18C1

Now that I have acquired a B18C1, the first thing on the list is to do a rebuild. My plan is to compete in the Streett Class in Redline/Speed Ventures Time Attack Series, so there are no restrictions when it comes to NA engine modifications. I'm going to try to squeeze out as much power out of the B18C1 as I can. With some luck, I should be able to achieve 200whp. If I end up blowing the B18C1, Plan B is to swap to a K20A from an FD2 CTR.

I don't envy you at this stage....nice shell though.

Why not a K-swap? I have a LOW mileage (15,xxx) K20a2 tranny to help get you started.

My friend got a B18C1 with S80 transmission for free. The guy he got it from thought he blew the motor, but it turned out that it was just a blown head gasket. Thanks for the offer though.

It was. My friend who was the previous owner was trying to sell it. Now she's mine once again.

seeing all your project cars makes me sad. i really want one. no space, time, money for one. Plus i have a gf and ill never hear the end of it.

I'm actually picking her up from my friend's house on Saturday morning. I need to clean my garage and make some space for Destiny's arrival. I actually just picked up a dash and rear bumper cover last week. I'll take some pictures this weekend.

No worries man, I'm sure you'll get a chance to pick up a project car in the future. My girlfriend didn't quite understand my obsession with cars and racing, but she eventually accepted it. Now she likes Hondas and drives a YH1 (03 Element LX).

for my project car, i want anything rwd. Sorry honda, looks like i might go nissan or old toyota for my project.

After the DC2, I really want to get an AP2.
