Matt's Project ED8

As some of you may know, I sold my DB8 back in February 2010 and picked up the DC2 shell that I previously sold to a friend. I kept the DC2 for a while and ended up selling her due to a torn rear subframe. It's a new year, so I promised myself that I would buy another project car and get back on the track. So I decided to pick up an '88 ED8 (CRX HF).

The Plan: To build the ED8 for time attack. I plan to compete in the various time attack events, but my main focus is Super Lap Battle and the Super Street FF Battle. I will be running in the street tire class. Game on.

Phase I: Body Work

Before I install the B18C1, I want to work on the engine bay. I want to clean it up, paint it, and set up all the fittings and lines for the swap. I also need to get a new front end.

Phase II: Rebuild B18C1

Without further adieu, here is Heather my ED8.

Engine/Drivetrain: B18C1
B18C1 GS-R Block (Balanced, bored to 81.25mm, honed, hot tanked)
B18C1 GS-R Head
S80 GS-R transmission
AEM high volume fuel filter
Aeromotive fuel pressure gauge
ARP harmonic balancer bolt kit
ARP head studs
JDM ITR throttle body
JDM PCT CTR 0.25mm oversized pistons
JDM PCT CTR 0.25mm oversized piston rings
OEM ITR oil pump
OEM ITR water pump
Supertech Manganese bronze valve guides

Suspension:

Brakes:
OEM DC2 Integra GS-R disc brake conversion (Front/Rear)

Wheels/Tires:

Exterior:
Mugen license plate bolts
OEM Polar White paint (NH-512Z)

Interior:

Electronics:

If your plan is time attack, then you should get the engine bay stitch welded while you have the motor pulled...this will allow you to properly tune your suspension.

Good luck with the build!

I'm sort of new on this forum, but....i've seen a few great lookin crx build threads on here, a couple seems to have been first posted two, three, four years ago but I never see the finished products! Do the things ever get finished so we can see what they look like?
If there are some ( START TO FINISHED ) posted threads out there that I;ve missed can someone please enlighten me as to where I can find some of them? I think they are great cars build on...

Great choice. I'd rather fix up a CR-X than buy a CR-Z.

I'm one step ahead of you man. Stitch welding the engine bay is on the list. Thanks!

No worries. You will see the finished product. I plan to have her up and ready with the B18C1 ready for time attack next year.

Thanks. Actually, I might get a CR-Z this year as my new daily driver. Either that or the new 2012 Civic Si Sedan.
