So... I bought another Honda.

Not quite what you would've expected I'm sure:

Definitely NOT what I expected. Thought it would be a bike, but then a four wheeler, but then...omg 80s. Don't flip it!

DiamondStarMonsters 10-22-2011 02:09 AM

Ya it's as dangerous as it looks.

This is going to be the winter deathmachine. 2spd trans. Solid rear axle.

Going to be getting some studs for the tires and a paint job. Thinking John Deere colors, as it kind of reminds me of their Gator series ATVs

Currently 90cc displacement and naturally aspirated.

Both of those stats will be changing shortly.

You going ice drifting or something? Sounds like a handful or trouble--but awesome trouble.

Funkster 10-22-2011 02:20 AM

Sounds like a fun project. I need to pick something like that up just to strip and powder coat all of the parts on it I can. Would make a good display vehicle for my shop.

I will keep an eye on this, I have flipped my share of these. My friends had a bunch of them growing up.

DiamondStarMonsters 10-22-2011 02:21 AM

This particular ride already has a couple casualties to its name. The plan is basically going to be for towing sleds around in the winter.

If we really end up with the armageddon snow everyones been predicting, I'll put some snow pants on over my slacks and commute the 17 miles to work on it haha

Funkster I would consider parting with it for the right price, let me know if serious. It runs and currently just needs a more snugly fitted gas cap.

THAT particular ride? Good lord.

I appreciate the offer. I will probably just buy a dirt cheap motorcycle if I do decide to go that route honestly.

I am sure you will have fun messing around with it. As I'm sure we both know, midwest winters can always be a bitch.

Yes, no differential/solid axle, combined with a shocking power/weigh ratio and inexperience has already landed at least two people in various states of f*cked up according to the guy I bought it from.

Yes they can, though the Fit proved amazingly capable during last years blizzard. You just have to rally cross everywhere. I spent several miles in 2nd gear with my foot almost to the floor to plow through the drifts.

I have some pictures from that night where I got out in between drifts to take a picture of the madness, and one where it managed to get out of the 14-20" in my driveway unaided.

This should have no trouble.

Here's some food for thought.. LOL This is the turbo I will be using on the 90cc trike compared to the turbo on my 2000cc race car:

The trike's IHI RHB3x Series turbo compressor map (Note 1lb air is ideally good for about 10HP):

Yes before the days of the Health & Safety brigade sucking the fun and souls out of us all.

I have only been successful at riding old 45ci Harley 3 wheelers.. Those little things like that scare the shit out of me at 20mpg around a gentle curve.... I can ride the hell out of a sidecar rig as long as I have personally set up the geometry.. I had a very attractive woman I was trying to impress pee all over the seat of my old BMW Jawa Velorex rig when I flew the car all the way through a S curve... Just one more hopeful relationship shot to hell by another beautiful woman that came to the conclusion that I was insane and very dangerous... Fortunately there were a lot more that came to that conclusion and couldn't stay away... I need to get a BMW R 1200 GS Adventure Touring set up with a nice rig... It would have to have a Corbin seat... I just let one get away on Ebay that went for $11,000 and it had everything but the seat and sidecar....My son and his wife are going to dinner tomorrow with his sister he just found out about and her husband.. The VA screwed up again on sending my medication or I would be going to... It would be bad to meet your 39 year old daughter face to face for the first time in an unfamiliar restaurant while going through morphine withdrawal... My son apologetically told her I was kind of a Hippie type with long blond hair, beard and radical views and opinions, she thinks that is cool... She is a school teacher as was my ex wife before she inherited millions, and so is my son's wife.

i got 3 1980's 3 wheelers all 185 0r 200cc solid axle no suspension, no buble tires, on quad rims/ tires, i love these things in the snow hahaha

555sexydrive 10-23-2011 12:02 AM

I had an old 110cc Honda ATC when I was 8. My dad bought it for me after he traded in the full-size Bronco for a Toyboat 4x4 and the ATC. We would go out to Pembroke Pines, FL when it was not at all built up and there were literally hundreds of 4x4s, ATCs and dirt bikes just out mudding. Great memories. I never flipped mine and I was a bit crazy with it, but I did while riding it in the yard with my sister in tow get to close to a tree, I ducked and she didn't and bam tree limb to the forehead. I felt bad, but at the same time it was kind of karma for her throwing a lawn dart one day and it hitting me in the back of the head. hahaha

Have fun with that DSM, like I need to even say that.

jeff_1986 10-23-2011 02:38 AM

Nice, I remember in my younger days my dad used to have an old red three-wheeler. Good times!

blackndecker 10-23-2011 11:19 PM

Needs moar low!

Nice pick up. Rigid front forks...haven't seen those in ages. 1980s?? This thing looks more like it's from the 1970s. ATVs in the 80s at least had a suspension.

Do you adjust the suspension on this one by inflating/deflating the tires? Hahaha...

EpilepticFit 10-24-2011 01:14 AM

The guy who invented this thing thought to himself one day: "Hmmm... how can I make a motorcycle more dangerous than it already is?"
And thus it was born.
Where can we send money to a trust fund for your kids after you've passed?

Looks bitchin though.

This thing almost gave me a high-side toss yesterday, but fortunately those big ballon tires are damn near bald.

That's probably about as sophisticated as the "engineers" got with this thing. Why on earth would they let it do 40mph?

Hahaha. To make things worse.. if you look near the handlebars in those pics you'll see what looks like a forward facing latch/handle.

That handle completely disengages the attitude adjustment lock on the front wheel from the handlebars for storage.

And it feels like it could come undone for like no reason.

That is first on my list for fixin.

It lives: Phase one has started. I have no idea why the video is sideways, or such low resolution. Shitty camera phone -
