The Fit is gone... but it won't be forgotten!!

I had a deal on a new car and i was getting tired of driving an Automatic 1.5l Fit so here is the welcomed replacement... :)

...and on a 30°c day!!

http://a4.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphot...85116736_n.jpg

I miss my Fit for what it was, a practical, economical daily driver with a terrific handling but the Si just have way more motor and a Manual Transmission!

.... doesn't look like that anymore... :(

Can't say I wouldn't have done the same in a similar situation!

Farewell brother! Don't be a stranger.

Give us your eval of the Si compared with the Fit - particularly interested in the non-performance aspects like comfort, interior quality, things like that. Also, it has a lot of power; is it also "fun" to drive?

Because clearly on a performance basis the Si is going to cream the Fit, hehe :)

The Si has an excellent engine and the OEM suspension already set up for spirited driving.. The only problem I have with a car like that is paying through the nose to insure it.. Having a car that doesn't need a mess of expensive modifications to enjoy is a very good thing.... One way or the other you pay to play.... Thanks DOHC for your wonderful feedback and information over the last few years....

you are always welcomed here

Well the Si costs about 80$ more per month because i didn't take every F&I options like the 1000$ rustproofing, etc (I did with the Fit...) but they gave me 5k$ for my 181k km Fit that needs a paint job in the front of the car, 5yrs\100k extended warranty, oil changes during the warranty with 0w20 syntec oil and a 1500$ rebate off the Civic... (LOL) The equipement is by FAR more complete with cruise control, 4 disc brakes, Torsen LSD, sunroof, heated mirrors, navigation, fog lamps, 7 speakers sound system, yadda yadda... so i can't complain! So far both are easy on gas with the Fit having an evident edge on highway fuel economy but far less then predicted (maybe .5l\100km!) but city driving is about the same as the K24 have plentiful torque in the low revs that propels the car with authority compared to the beating i had to give to the Fit sometimes and the fact that it was always donshifting when going uphills... :\ As for the assurances they are, again, far less expensive then i expected! 25$ more per months...! One thing i dearly miss that the Fit had was the suspention... With the coilovers and Swaybar set i had, i could take a certain curve at more then 140km\h without a problem! With the stock Si, over 100km\h is hazardous if not dangerous, the swaybars are just too soft (18mm-f,15mm-r Vs my Fit 25mm-f,22mm-r)... Granted the Stock Michelin Endurasuck aren't the greatest thing invented since Chocolate and Pizza were, but the suspention is too much soft IMHO! I also have to have the Rev-Hang corrected as the RPM just hangs between shifts for some obscure reasons... At least, there is the Hondata Reflash that take cares of it if it really happens to annoy me... So here is my Pros and cons compared to my Modified Fit!

Pros
-Engine (K24Z7)
-Transmission with LSD!
-Equippement is complete it only lacks heated seats! :)
-Disc brakes all around!! :)
-Aftermarket should be better sooner or later!
-Parts costs absolutely nothing on the Si Vs the Fit! 722$ for an engine block on Majestic Honda 877-864-0954 Honda Dealership West Warwick serving Warwick Rhode Island Seekonk Massachusetts it's a joke!!!

Tie
-Fuel economy is about the same! Maybe half a liter per 100km difference favoring the Fit on Hwy's due to taller gears!

Cons
-Weight.. about 500lbs heavier....
-Suspention really soft for a sport model from Honda...
-It's gonna be a PITA to maintain as the engine is partly under the Firewall... Changing spark plugs is gonna be a Pain...

Hope the change was for the better.

DOHCtor 08-23-2012 10:46 PM

hahhahahah those K24Z7 are AWESOME!! But i almost felt asleep at the wheel doing that.... (70km/h)

The car even have a custom made CAI now!! I just hacked the stock Resonator and made a tapered entry with a portion of it and a propane torch! It's AWESOME and costed ''Free Fifty Free''!! ...well, not really as i changed the filter for a K&N but you get the point... :P

The next thing that's gonna happen on it will be a flush and refill of the transmission with some AMSoil MTF as it apparently makes Wonder on those transmissions!!

well that was really good car and good things can never be forgotten , i really liked that car , it is small with good features and dashing , stylish looks , it will always be remembered by me.

'sup guys!

I've recieved my RBC manifold for the K24Z7 Si. I'm gonna do a mild port & polish job on it and install it later as i need Flashpro, phenlic gaskets, a J35 Throttle Body, a TB spacer (So the stock inlet hose works great) and some RDX Turbo injectors for it.. Then it's gonna sound like that..! ...and have something like 20-25 more HP! :)

So far every intakes sucks for the 9th gen SI so i'm gonna use the stock airbox for now and later i'm gonna do something like this...

Kick ass custom intake by SB2012SI on the 9th gen forums! He also use an RBC manifold as you cas see..! :)
