Mazda6 Wagon we will not get
 

A wagon version of the Mazda6 is back — but only in Europe and Japan. On the heels of the new Mazda6 sedan reveal, the automaker took the wraps off of the 2014 Mazda6 wagon ahead of its official debut later this month at the 2012 Paris Motor Show.
A wagon version of the midsize car hasn't been in the automaker's U.S. lineup since 2007, and so far, there's no plan for it to return. As if that wasn't bad enough, the wagon will be powered by Mazda's Skyactiv-D 2.2-liter diesel engine; it's been rumored that the U.S. should see this engine soon, but it hasn't happened yet.
Other engines include a 2.0-liter or 2.5-liter gasoline four-cylinders.

It is funny the US is a big market but only a few European manufacturers offer station wagons yet in Europe it is a big seller even Ford and Chevy offer them.
Since Mazda is building both versions of the Mazda6 at the same plant I do not see why they could not sell it here. If anyone will offer a wagon (Asian manufacturuers) it probably will be Hyundai since they seem to offer everything.

But I don't want to drive a Hyundai!! :(

The Accord wagon which is the Accura TSX wagon. All the wagons in the US are high end models except the VW Sportwagon.

Was looking for Grilles for the 2012 FIT and came across this which had the Nissan March which looks like a cross between the Fiat 500 and Juke

.. and that VW sportwagen is even pretty high end compared with anything else in its class. Ze Germans simply need to price their cars high to make a profit and there's a set of people willing to pay, even for the relatively spartan VWs.

I think that automakers just have to make decisions on how many models they'll bring to market, and they know that in the US, what will sell is a crossover (basically, a wagon stretched in the vertical dimension). The Subaru Legacy is sold as a wagon in JP; but what do they do for the Outback? They tack on a raised suspension and some lower-body and roof-top body cladding to make it look "bigger" vertically. This is a shame to my mind because I think cars are much prettier when they're substantially longer than tall. But you KNOW that if they sold the regular Legacy wagon for a similar price, they'd sell a tenth of what they sell for the Outback. AND 90% of those would just cannibalize the Outback sales. So a new model to get 1% more sales? ....

I like the previous generation Legacy GT wagon only thing I did not like was the gas mileage. It is funny they sell the Escape, CR-V and other small SUV along side the wagons in Europe but not in the US. Kind of like the VW Scirocco not imported into the US because the dealers were afraid it would hurt GTI sales.

That Mazda 6 wagon looks nice. Too bad americans seem to hate wagons. The Focus ST wagon is another one that i would jump on if they offered it here.

So much for Ford's offering same products worldwide. I would definitely of brought the Focus ST wagon or even just the Focus wagon. The thing with the Mazda6 wagon is that it is built at the same plant as the sedan.

Whenever they bring over the skyactiv-d for the cx-5, I would probably take a good hard look at that. Closest we will probably get to a wagon in the states.

I looked the CX-5 briefly was interested in the FWD manual however, the depreciation would be a killer up here not many people in upstate New York would buy a used SUV without AWD.

Correct, or take a Civic and make into a Accura ILX.

yah, station wagons are basically cheap/small versions of pre-minivans in most american eyes, i think. and when it comes to utility, they prefer the larger minivans for the 3rd row seating, much bigger cargo space, etc. if you want a sporty minivan, they buy a full sized SUV. it's a cultural thing...

I would think there must be other people besides myself who does not want AWD or third row seat but more cargo room. However like AWD a third row seat is a must for most buyers. It is funny I remember when everybody drove RWD in the winter and the snow accumulations seem higher. But now everybody thinks you must have AWD in order to drive in the winter.

I guess Fiat is bringing the Fiat 500 station wagon to the US in 2013.

yah, i personally dont care for 3rd row seating and AWD.

snow tires on FWD > AWD on a/s tires (what most AWD folks use).

3rd row seating = invitation for in-laws to come. no thanx!!
