Smart Future Track Day/AutoX Car Choice?
So I have been following a blog for a few years now where a guy who is a professional engineer progressed from buying regular cars and bikes to building a Westfield kit, then putting a V8 in an Ariel Atom, and ultimately to designing and building his own cars!
All of that is documented here: dp vehicle home NOW, fast forward a few years and they have things in production and out in the wild including a win in the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb Unlimited Class 8o He's up to 4 potential cars being produced. The main page for the company is here: http://www.palatov.com/index.htm I have been looking at the D4... http://www.palatov.com/Images/dp4/dp4_019.jpg http://www.palatov.com/Images/dp4/dp4_005.jpg Here is the Brochure: http://www.palatov.com/documents/D4_Brochure.pdf Build your own kit without aero in 2wd form with a 1000cc GSXR motor that started like with 168hp in a <900lb car... looks like it could be turn key for less than $40K.... AND you can add other goodies a la carte later on! Thoughts? There is also always the soon to be coming D2... a 1,600lb, LSx powered, rear trans axle kit car... Its designed around the GM LS3 'e-Rod kit' so it can be made 50 state legal and potentially road registered... http://www.palatov.com/Images/d2/seven.jpg http://www.palatov.com/Images/d2/IMG_8082.jpg |
This seems to becoming a big thing Top Gear UK did a show on buying a track car last year. I have seen a few on E-bay not sure this is similar to the above.

The Titan and Cheetah have been around for a bit

I mean, its a cool idea, but I couldn't imagine owning something like that.
But then, I love driving on the street and am driven by aesthetics on many car related endeavors. |
