Those can be a ton of fun! Heck, Grassroots Motorsports did an article on them a little bit ago, and apparently even if you swap to the other Yota engine that fits in there, they seem to still hold or increase in value!

Should have been a factory trim level for MR-S(2?), shame on them for not offering it considering it just drops right in.

Congrats! What are your plans since you say "project"?

Well in Europe they did offer a mr2 TTE which was turbo. Those are awesome.

When I said project it's for me to customized it, restore her and add some goodies to make her handle and go fast. I really didn't want to do too much to my fit, I wanted to keep it as a reliable daily commuter since its comfortable and economical hence why I was on the market for a small, light and, cheap reliable sports car, it was between a miata which was a no (don't like its looks), S2000 which was too heavy and too expensive so I settled on a mr2 spyder since its cheap, reliable, good handling, and I had a huge itch for a manual trans car plus I work at Toyota so I can get all the parts cheap for the restore. :)

That type of green including forest green and british racing green is one of my favorite colors. Its a shame, I don't see that type of color offered much anymore on newer cars. How much did you get it for if you don't mind me asking?

ahh nice green going on :)

I'd like a picture of the interior. :)

Those MR2s are the only budget mid-rear sports cars available on the US market, used or new. The next step up is a Boxster, or a Scion if you'd accept mid-front. Now granted, I would probably have a Miata, however the MR2 has an exotic factor that the Miata does not.

I'll take some interior pics tomorrow as its too dark right now. Today I replaced the somewhat oil seeping valve cover gaskets, check valve clearances, spark plugs and changed the oil and filters. I'm surprised to see that the previous owners who all been religiously changing the oil with top shelf stuff because its looks brand new inside despite being all original with all virgin bolts intact. Engine numbers match and nothing has been replaced. Here is what it looked like inside....keep I mind this is 125k miles.
