Current model http://static.autoexpress.co.uk/site...oto_521851.jpg Should be joined by the company's entry-level crossover According to a recent report, a Volkswagen spokesperson has confirmed the company's entry-level crossoverhttp://images.intellitxt.com/ast/adTypes/icon1.png and the next-generation Polo will be sold in the United States. The crossover isn't expected to arrive until 2017, but it will reportedly be based on the MQB platform and could adopt styling cues from the Taigun concept that debuted at the 2012 Sao Paulo Motor Show. Engine options remain unconfirmed but previous reports have indicated it could be offered three- and four-cylinder units. The Polo will be closely related to the crossover but will eschew the rugged styling and off-road capabilities. Speculation also suggests there will be an electric variant but little is known about it. Regardless of the final details, both models will slot below Jetta which currently starts at $16,720. |
