considering HPD has close ties with Borg Warner, Im curious if they are utilizing the EFR series turbo?

Wonder if the integrated exhaust manifold in the head casting will help turbo spool?

I have some serious doubts that it will be stateside any time soon.

I would retire the Fit for this. I just can't seem to warm up to the tail lights though.

The SI costs $25k, this new Type-R turbo'd will easily be above $30k. This puts it in competition with the WRX and 370Z. Those are heavy hitters. Well, unless Honda is venturing off into off again like they did with the CR-Z. I'm still disappointed :( . It will be interesting, I'm excited for the Type Rs return!

Even better news! Honda says the new Civic Type R will aim to be ‘the fastest front-wheel drive vehicle on the Nurburgring’. To the best of our knowledge (and ‘Ring records are always a little hazy) that means it’ll have to beat the 8m08s lap set by the Renaultsport Megane RS Trophy last year. That’s a mighty quick lap.

LOL'ed at $30K+ civic.

that is just stupid imho to be spending that kind of money on a FWD economy low-end sedan. they need to do that with the Accord sedan minimum with SH-AWD 6MT.

I'm liking it and will consider trading in my Fit if it comes to the US .
I would have a hard time justifying paying over 30K for the typeR

I just priced out a loaded 2014 Focus ST and with a current $1,000 discount it was $28,345 and with a tune and bolt on's this thing is a beast

I hope Honda brings this one to us and with the new Kia 5 door Turbo I will have some crazy choices in the Hot Hatch segment.

I come from the world of Supercharged Mustangs and other V8 Iron but have no problem returning to a boosted import/domestic 4 banger

Agree actually getting quite a few higher performance hatchbacks again in the $20k to $30k range the last Mugen Type R ($30k would be conservative) 38k pounds figure the exchange rate on that.

Makes you wonder what Honda is thinking when they use a Civic for the Acura ILX and price it from $25k to $35K range.

If Honda gave us Type R's, I probably would have never strayed from Honda. The Integra Type R was a little too much for me to afford in high school... by the time I was able to afford one, going from an Integra LS to a Type R did not entice me much as I wanted a new and different car.
