You have to ask why?
Both pack 138 bhp
Three days ago Chevrolet announced the Sonic RS and Sonic Dusk sedans and now the cars have received their public debut at the Los Angeles Auto Show.
The Sonic RS hatchback was revealed at the end of 2011 and from now on it will have a sedan cousin. Both of them share the same 1.4-liter EcoTec turbocharged gasoline engine rated at 138 bhp (103 kW) and 200 Nm (148 lb-ft) of torque sent to the front axle through a six-speed manual gearbox. It also benefits from a sport-tuned suspension and a slightly more aggressive exterior.
On the inside it has received aluminum sport deals and a three-spoke flat-bottomed steering wheel wrapped around in leather with contrasting stitching. The Sonic RS Sedan has also gained leather-covered front bucket seats with red accents.
Pricing will start from 20,530 USD (including 825 USD destination fee).
Moving on to the Sonic Dusk Sedan, it's essentially a production version of a concept shown back in 2011 at SEMA. It will be offered only with an Ashen Grey Metallic exterior paint and will ride on 18-inch alloys featuring a Midnight Silver matte finish. It has the same engine and four-wheel disc brakes as the RS and on the inside it has received Jet Black leather-trimmed seats with sueded microfiber accents.
This version will carry a starting price of 20,945 USD (including destination fee)
In related news, Chevrolet has announced that for the 2014 model year the Sonic will be offered with optional goodies such as a cold-air induction, lowering suspension kit, brake package with Wilwood front calipers and an 18-inch wheel & tire combo. More importantly, there's a turbo stage kit featuring a high-flow exhaust that bumps output by 10 bhp (7.5 kW) and 15 lb-ft (20 Nm).
