Honda finally sees the light!
 

Honda has announced that it is bringing in a new Civic, and adding, finally, much needed performance to the line. They have been catering to grannies for the past decade or 2. Now, hopefully, some of that new performance will seep down to the Fit drive train. Imagine: an Si engine in a Fit. Yahoo!

I saw a YouTube clip from the New York auto show showing the Civic concept car. They mentioned it eventually coming in a 5 door hatchback.

If your idea of performance is a heavy, McPherson strut FF car, then yes, there will be a performance Civic from now on.

Is this confirmed it will be macstrut? If they put that on the Type R that would be pretty disappointing.

The FD2 was mac strut, I have to assume this new one will be too; I don't think any Civic post-EK has been DW.

That is true, I was hoping they'd TRULY move back to their sporting roots 100% but maybe that's asking too much.

I'm sure it would cause quite a stir if they brought back double wishbones. I think it would be worth the effort for a low volume car like the Type R, but then again it would be too difficult to cross between trim levels since i'm sure the R will share everything else as far as body and mounts go.

So I assume you're right and it will be macstrut. Not a deal breaker if the suspension is sorted well... lots of performance cars have been macstrut. It's not ideal but can be made to work if it's designed with performance in mind from the get go.
