Anyone "downgrade" to a Fit (I currently have a 7th Gen 2005 AV6 Sedan Accord EX)
After this morning's commute, I was in near tears from the lower back pain. Drove up to the dealership tonight, and sat in a few things. Test-drove an '07 Civic Si.
Traded it in on the spot. Luckily, there were very few miles on the Fit and it had not yet been titled by NJ, and I got a very aggressive price on the Si sedan.
Loved the Fit, but I just didn't "fit".

Wow, I am glad I read this post. I currenlty have an EVO IX, I love the car, it makes 330BHp at the wheels. BUT, it is a bad financial decision to have one now. I spend about 500 in car payments, 150 in insurance and 400 - 500 in gas a month. I sit in trafiic all day and fill my tank with premium every 2 days. I am in the process of putting my car back to stock so that I can purchase a Fit around memorial day.
lol, this is like an AA group for more powerful car converts...

I have an 03 Maxima SE Automatic, which is an astoundingly great car. But thinking of buying a fit sport manual.
I just have more fun in a smaller vehicle, prolly why I am so much into motorcycling and snowmobiling.
I will miss the power of the award winning Nissan 3.5 liter motor, but the Fit is a jewel and it handles so well on the few I have test driven. Plus the MPG and the versitility.
Just need to figure out if how I should sell my Maxima, or if I should let the dealer insult me with a trade in price LOL

I guess you could say I've "downgraded." I was just driving an '03 Ford Escape, and before that, I leased a '06 Nissan Pathfinder. Let me just say that the cost of fuel and the pathetic gas mileage in those vehicles made me get the Fit. I was averaging a lousy 15mpg in both SUV's and I drive anywhere from 20-500 miles for gigs.
Hehe I am also a former 7thgen 6sp accord owner.... I miss my old baby and will never forget her... :D like a first orgy rofl but I love my fit now it does things my accord could never do through corners lol but yea its a biiiig lost in the performance book my 7th gen had I/E downpipe 75shot i was flying but hey my fit will most definitely be there one day... will be putting that 75shot in her as soon as I hit 1k
i'm glad you put downgrade in quotes. this is one of the most fun cars i've ever owned. i've owned 3 NSX's and i'm currently on my second ferrari. i'm looking forward to driving the fit this weekend over the ferrari.
I bought my Fit in April last year to add it to my collection of Honda automobiles. At the time I owned a 2001 Honda S2000. Since then, I've sold my S2000 (mainly due to it having some mechanical issues; needed a new tranny, softtop, and other issues that would have cost me thousands to fix). I don't consider my transition to the Fit a "downgrade". Although the Fit technically is a downgrade, less horsepower, etc. I plan to buy the JR Supercharger for the Fit when it's for sale. Also, Larger wheels and tires, lowering springs (0.5" - 1.0" drop), Limited Slip Differential, and carbon fiber wing and front lip. So far the only modifications I have done are HID headlight conversion and K&N air and oil filter. The Fit is no S2000 and it never will be. I do miss the S2000 at times. I noticed the Fit revs very eagerly to redline, it seems like it wants to keep going. It took me a while to get used to the 6,500 RPM redline and Fit's eagerness doesn't help. Mine is a 5MT obviously (wouldn't have it any other way).
Wow! This is a GREAT thread. There are a lot of people trading in MUCH nicer (faster, sportier, more expensive) cars than what I'm getting rid of.
I just put down a deposit on a Fit Sport Manual and I'm trading in my Scion tC for it. For the size of the engine and the low amount of HP in the tC it really gets awful gas mileage. However, every time I get behind the wheel of my tC I feel like I might be making a mistake.
On the other hand, I really consider myself somewhat of an environmentalist and I feel like this is something I should do. I've only owned SUV's prior to the tC, so to me the tC seems like it handles phenomenally (although most reviewers disagree). Sounds like the Fit will be just as much fun if not more...just gotta get used to it...the tC is a lot "sexier" in my eyes.

I'm considering going from my 07 civic EX 5MT coupe to a 5AT fit sport when the 2008 models are announced. I love the look of the 8th gen civics but I want something that is easier to get myself and friends in and out of. and be able to just toss my bike in the back. The 5AT on the sport seems pretty fun as well. The only thing I will REALLY miss will be the moonroof or... maybe not, there is so much more headroom in the fit!
I have both the TSX and the Fit and love swithing back and forth every couple of days. They are completely different and amazing in their own ways. After a couple of days in the Fit, I start wondering why I need all the accoutrements of the TSX and it's not until I get back in the TSX that I remember why I keep it.

I'm currently driving a modded 2002 Infiniti Q45 and selling the car for a FIT. Everyone thinks i'm crazy and maybe i am, but the money i'll be saving is a plus. I know i'll miss the leather, the smooth ride, and spaciousness but i wont miss the cops, bad mileage, and expensive gas. My Fit is coming on the Jboat this week so i'm hoping to test drive it soon. Getting your hands on one in hawaii is a difficult task when the dealers only bring like 3 a month.
i went from an 02 wrx wagon to an 07 fit sport auto. i loved my subaru but it just wasnt practical anymore. i almost cant believe some of you went from an STi to a FIT, because i think the STi is a beast of a car, but ive heard just the insurance on one of those is sometimes more than the car payments itself. yikes.
i got my FIT because of gas mileage, i was still able to store as much as i did in my wrx wagon plus some, and its still fun to drive. full coverage insurance and monthly payments on car add up to around 300/mo. filled up my car last week at around 29 bucks, wheras the wrx took was about 48 bucks per fillup.
id like to eventually go back to subaru because i like their boxer engines and their AWD, but until they produce a car with more mpg than their current highest (29 mpg), ill be looking elsewhere. then again, i think they have a turbo diesel slated for 09. otherwise, im happy with honda (i drove a 98 accord a while back and liked it as well).

I went from TWO srt4s ((one heavily modded, the other just BPU's)) to an 07 si coupe...to the FITTTT...and i dont miss any of them for one second. I love my fit, looks better (huge fan of hatches) GREEAAATTT gas milage, out handles and has more space then all my other cars. Do it and you probably will just kick yourself for not doing it sooner :D
