Honda accord transmission question

Sorry, I know this is a fit forum but I have got great information here and had a hard time joining a few accord forums as they wanted me to sign up for other things than just the forum. I was wondering if anyone knew of a good accord forum or had an answer to my question. My grandparents bought a 2016 accord automatic & they are driving to Florida from Ohio. My grandfather is wondering about down shifting as they are going downhill to reduce stress on the brakes.

I would just tell them to use their brakes if needed. If they are taking I-75 all the way up/down there are only a couple spots where they will need to worry about it and on a 2016 Accord, I wouldn't worry about the brakes. I've driven this route probably 100 times in my life and have never set the gear lower in my car to slow us down, I usually just use the brakes and have never encountered any issues because of this.

The car might down shift on its with dat grade logic (?) software on the AT.

But I downshift on my AT cars going down a hill. No issue.

does the car have the CVT transmsission?

Thanks Kenchan.

Tbh, I don't know. It was a base model and automatic is all I know. I will see them Saturday & ask.

Great people on this site. I bought a wrx & haven't found a forum I like as much for it yet.

hey which wrx did u get? I have a 16 STI with the hk/keyless. luv the thing. so old skool with hydraulic pump steering (the correct setup imho), no weird delays on the drive by wire, LSD, etc etc

I just luv how Subaru left the old skool bits on the ride the way a car SHOULD be for us car guys.

visit me on my blog page below. I talk about many other things besides Fits.

I gave my fit to my niece so the sti wasn't in the budget. I ended up getting a 17 white base. Super happy with it though & just got through the break in before donut season. I did luck out though, ordered a cheap set of flaps but they sent me the rally armor & refused to admit the mistake so I got those for $60. I also got the plates I wanted WZL WRX! I do kinda miss the hatch though.

Not sure if I'm missing a blog link or I'm blind

There is NO need to be downshifting an AT. Just use the brakes.

nice! I like the white WRX's. I saw white STI da other day and it was real nice. GJ on the plates too. :D yah, I was very close to buying the 2009 STI back 7yrs ago but my knee kept hitting the steering column each time I twisted my right leg a little bit to heel and toe.. so passed it up. the 16 STI, no issue. plenty of clearance.

the blog link is in my sig. :D
