Honda says "no"/I say "yes" warranty issue
When this thread started I checked the driver door armrest it was split under the fabric, not as bad as theoriginal post car. I had a little over 6k miles on the car, 2011 Sport.
Took it to my Honda dealer last week. I explained the problem and stated I haven't treated my Fit any different than other cars I have owned. They looked at the car and when finished told me they had ordered a door panel, no questions asked. Panel came in early this week and was installed on Thursday.

Lowkey- IMO your dealer is a real jerk. How can any door armrest break in 11K miles w/o there being something faulty with it's manufacturing in the first place?
Honda admits this fact with a TSB for this problem in the 2009 models. What did Honda do to remedy this in later year models?

I would be embarrassed to be so incompetent as to go to the dealer about something like this. They have every right to deny this claim. Now, here's the plan:
Only tool needed is a screwdriver, even an apartment dweller could handle this.

- Go to walmart
- Buy 5 minute epoxy
- Remove the door panel
- Reposition broken plastic back in place
- Mix epoxy
- Apply to crack
- Allow to dry
- Replace door panel

I get it, but my post isn't really w/ fixing the part itself as much as Honda's response.
There's just never anything interesting here, so I strike terror, leave for several months, come back, still borring, terror, leave, ad infinitum. It seems alot of the old talent has left even in the GD crowd.
I doubt Susan can answer that question, since the dealer gave you the answer. You'll have to check with them. Take a printout of TSB to dealer. The covered VIN numbers are listed. That may help.
Applies To: 2009 Fit
– From VIN JHMGE8...9S000001 thru JHMGE8...9S029650

I was fortunate and the 2009- 2010 lost motion spring recall did not apply to my VIN.
It still would be good to know what Honda did to remedy the armrest defect in later models.
Update: After having my BBB case approved and open a couple days, I recieved a call from Honda Corporate: "When we last spoke your case was denied. However, we have reopened your case and decided to fix the issue as a sign of good will. Thank you for your patience and professionalism with this situation."

I agree on the ease of DIY repair, but if mine needed this and it were under warranty, you can bet I'd asking for warranty repair too. It's what we paid for.
